I had actually forgotten about Paul Allen's Experience Music Project (EMP) until a lady at the baseball game suggested it as a good activity. I am glad that she did, because so far it was one of the highlights of the trip. The idea behind the museum is to learn about music history in a very open, interactive environment. Plus, the EMP had additional exhibits of horror, fantasy, Sci-Fi and of course Star Wars...

They charge you extra for the Star Wars stuff. (Paul is a pretty smart guy.) It was mostly worth the extra few bucks. It was costumes from all six films, but in my opinion it leaned too much on the later, more elaborate (and not nearly as good) films. Highlights included Princess Leia in the gold bikini and an eight-foot Chewbacca. All and all, it was cool and I am glad that I checked it out.

The Nirvana exhibit was also cool. Given my age and the place I was at in my life when 'Smells like Teen Spirit' came out, the band did have quite an influence on me. There was a group of us, mostly dudes walking around the exhibit, longing to wear plaid and rage against the establishment, but mostly we just took pictures without our flashes, as instructed.

As I said, the place is very interactive. I strummed a guitar, played the drums, tickled the ivories. I even found an exhibit that promised to teach me how to scratch like Jam Master Jay (RIP). But it was broken. I was very disappointed. I have always wanted to know how to scratch...

The rest of the museum was cool. I was a little disappointed in the 'Horror'. It was very toned down as the EMP is pretty family oriented. The Sci-Fi was better, cool costumes and life size replicas of the control room in a spaceship. Fantasy was cool. It had a group of tunnels that littler individuals could crawl through, I did not chance it.

On the ground floor of the museum they had an exhibit on the Seahawks. I did not partake.
