Our day began as many others have....having difficulty getting on the right trail out of town. Today we lost close to an hour and 11/2 miles at the start of our day's walk. We put part of the blame on our guidebook which said to "cross the bridge" after leaving the path. We did cross the bridge and the subsequent directions and signposts seemed okay for awhile. It turns out we were supposed to cross the bridge when we exited the path but not actually cross the river...just cross the road. Anyway, we are all ready to take a cab to the trail when we leave Richmond!
We did end up having another great day walking. The weather looked threatening in the morning but we only had clouds....no rain at all and the sun came out in the afternoon. There was a wonderful cool breeze all day. While the landscapes again were mostly pastures and farms, we could still see differences. There were new breeds of sheep, more cows and the grass was greener and more lush. We had some easy climbs and amazing views of the valley and surrounding hills.
We were very happy to arrive in Richmond,
where we will be staying for two nights. Tomorrow is a rest day and we are all ready to give our feet, legs and the rest of our bodies a day off!
We are staying in a charming guesthouse....the lower part was built in 1072 and some of the wood in my room was stolen from the castle I will visit tomorrow.

Ann: I read your blog each day with interest. I can't believe what an amazing trip you are having! The pictures are beautiful and I am eager to see the rest. I also admit that there is no way in hell that I could manage this trip. You should be very proud of yourself. Hugs.
