Today we are heading up the Rhine River for a cruise.

With less than half the bus full, our tour guide and bus driver are going to enjoy the day with us.

The hour and half bus ride goes pretty quick, as they tell us there corny German jokes and try to teach us the language in between telling us about any landmarks we pass by.

The German music goes on and we all enjoy the antics.

The bus driver plays his favourite song "Kay Serra Serra" by Doris Day and has us singing along as he sways the bus from side to side with the music.

He comes to a round a bout and is so happy with himself, drives around it a full two times.

I feel like I'm trapped in a Chevy Chase movie.

In no time we reach our small German town for lunch. The town names are impossible to remember.

After lunch we drive up the hill for a chairlift ride down to the boat, needless to say the views over the vineyards are Rhine are spectacular.

We take the boat for a two hour cruise along the Rhine, passing the most castles in any stretch of the Rhine and many quaint German villages.

The Rhine itself is a big wide fast flowing river as is the highway for a lot of different working boats.

The banks are lined with houses, villages and vineyards wherever they can be planted.

After the boat we head back to the very quirky restaurant for some local wine tasting before heading home.

We both think our wines are better from home, but the Germans think there's is pretty good.

They talk up the famous Ice Wine, but the majority of our group believe it is over rated.

It was a great day with too many pics, so I will split the boat ones onto a seperate post.

Also a pity the sun was in the wrong place for most of the castle pics.
