Considering the long day yesterday of readying and flying the Walkers woke nice and early this morning, a lot earlier than they planned. This turned out to be a bit of a blessing when they went down stairs and discovered the breakfast buffet. Lucky that there was one of the holiday makers that had a body built for big breakfast, thank goodness for the weeks of quasi dieting before the trip, things where about to change!
Bellies full and arriving at our appointed location, the Singapore Flyer, early we had a chance to have a bit of a look around. This was really pleasant with a nice garden to stroll through and an area which was full of old school hawker food trollies. unfortunately it was a little early to get the deep fried oysters. The other discovery was how oppressive the weather was.
Onto the thankfully air-conditioned bus and we were off. First stop off the bus for immigration, back on the bus, 3 clicks down the road and it was off again for customs, back on the bus, third stop LEGOLAND.
Refreshed from the cool air and juiced up on Pocari Sweat and excitement we took
the undercover walk to the gates to be greeted by a tonne of colourful bricks and surprisingly few people.
The first ride to greet us was the Technics rollercoaster. My enthusiasm took a bit of a blow when I realised that I would be taking the ride by myself! What the. Never mind ever onwards and upwards. The next ride Oli was back on board, why, because what kid dosent like getting wet while riding around in little yellow lego speedboats. Awesome! What made it even better was that there were very few people lined up for it. Lets go again.
We could have stayed on there all day but we could here the yells of fun coming from every direction. So we decided to do an explore of the park. Who would have dared to believe that there would be a funpark where there was no lines and no delays, was this going to be the best day ever? We managed to blast through the entire park in a few hours, this included all the rides a tour through the Star Wars Lego display, a walk around mini land and some chicken in Lego Egypt. Oli even
managed to win himself a minion and pass his drivers licence.
After Adventure Land dragon rides, Castles and pyramids explored we headed back to where it all started, the solo ride on the Technics cars, this time round I wasn't alone though. Oli and I rode that puppy into the ground doubling up on goes when there weren't enough X-treme dudes willing to stunt it.
Ride of the day had to go to the yellow boats, with the heat and the on again off again riding, there was little that could surpass its fun factor.
Heading home we knew we had to stop off back through immigration and customs, but with smiles on our faces and mini-figures in our pockets there was nothing that could dampen our spirits. Three hours later and still not back to the hotel, wet shoes and socks causing mummified feet our resolve was starting to waver, how could such a perfect day be stained by a hundred busses loaded with people trying to get through the gates manned by two immigration officials. Closer to four hours to get home. Who'd have thought.
The night was finished of by some dinner and
late night shopping!
Super effort, and a day that would be very hard to beat!
