Rabe de las Calzadas Rabe de las Calzadas Rabe de las Calzadas

Small town just after Tardajos
Woke up to an absolutely cloudless sky - a bit worrisome for hiking the Meseta ... Had a good breakfast at La Fabrica and then set off with Andrew, Luzia and Tee Tee for Hontanas. Received a text from Italia that she and her Dad, Abel, really wanted to meet up with us today.

The 11 km or so to Hornillo de Camino wasn't too bad - most likely because we were pretty fresh. We stopped for a quick bite and then resumed our hike which was made so much harder by the intensity of the sun! The final 12 km were absolutely brutal and if it wasn't for my travelling companions, I'm not sure I would have made it! The sun is so strong and there is no shade on the Meseta!

Finally made it to Hontanas and found a nice private hostel with double rooms and private baths. Had a nice shower, treated my blisters and had a bit of a nap. A large group of us met to eat dinner outdoors in the shade of the local cathedral - Lovely! Although it is Father's Day, Abel treated us to some extra bottles of wine

Hi
What a treat it is to see your blog when it comes in. Craig and the boys were at church today and they seem to be doing okay. We are home from the Yukon and looking forward to seeing you when you get home.. I gave out a sheet to the congregation today asking them to keep track of the places that they go to this summer and mark them down. The concept is keeping in touch with the congregation and taking Jesus along with you.. You will have some work to do when you receive flat Jesus... Have fun! Blessings
