Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not changelike shifting shadows. James 1 : 17 On
Saturday 6th June we headed off on our 2015 summer holiday. We caught the 8.38am London/Midlands train from Albrighton to Shrewsbury where we connected with an Arriva train heading for Swansea. We then changed to the Arrive train for Tenby. The journey was great with all connections on time and we arrived in Tenby at around 3.00pm. After picking up the key to our flat we unpacked and in sunny weather we took a long walk around Tenby especially the port and beach area. Dinner was good old English Fish & Chips on a park bench overlooking the water.
Sunday 7th June was another sunny day which
started with the 10.00am Holy Communion service at St Marys church. The congregation of over 100 was very welcoming and friendly. The church Communion rail is positioned at the top of some steep stairs and is something we had not seen before. For those who could no longer manage the climb a second altar rail was available in a side chapel. It's always great to be
part of these services.
After lunch we again walked around Tenby and it's surrounds to get our bearings.

Monday 8th June we caught the 7.30am bus from Tenby to Haverfordwest in order to connect with a bus to St Davids, arriving in a sunny St Davids at 9.45am.
St Davids is the smallest city in the UK and has a magnificent Cathedral. After spending time wandering around the Cathedral and enjoying our homemade lunch we took a bus to the small seaside town of Solva to enjoy the ocean views before heading back to Haverfordwest and then Tenby.

Tuesday 9th June after exploring more of Tenby, and after another lunch overlooking the water we walked to the nearby village of Penally. The walk took us through the Tenby golf course as well as fields full of sheep and ended at St Nicholas and St Teilo Anglican church which had a great view over to Caldy Island.
Wednesday 10th June saw us again hopping on a local bus this time to the seaside town of Saundersfoot. After a walk along the sea front and then the High street we followed the walking path towards
Wisemans Bridge and Amroth. The walk followed the cliffs from Saundersfoot through bush as well as sweeping sea views. After coffee and welsh cakes in Amroth we caught the bus back to Tenby where we changed buses and headed to the town of Pembroke.
Pembroke castle is situated on a large pond that looks like the castle moat and it was on the banks of the pond overlooking the castle that we enjoyed our homemade lunch in sunny conditions. We visited St Mary's church and especially enjoyed it's 'Oasis of Calm' garden before catching the bus back to Tenby.
The local buses that travel out from Tenby are great value and a day pass cost only £7.50 per person.
Thursday 11th June was Evelyn's birthday and we spent a quieter day in Tenby once again enjoying the sun, sea and sand. Dinner was at the Mykonos Greek restaurant where we enjoyed starters of stuffed mushrooms followed by Dolmades and Moussaka.
Friday 12th June and our last day was another quiet day once again soaking up the sun, sea and sand and walks before packing.
Saturday 13th June and on a cold and wet day we
sadly said goodbye to Tenby as we caught the 9.04am Arriva train to Whitlands some 30 minutes away where we connected with the Arriva Manchester train to Shrewsbury and then the London/Midlands train to Albrighton, arriving home at 3.30pm. Again we could not fault the train service and connections and look back at the great week we had experienced, the great weather we had been given and the great relaxing time we had. God is certainly good to us.
Now back home and
Sunday 14th June was Cosford Air Show day so after our 11.15am service of Holy Communion at St Chads, which was Rev Mary's last service as our Curate as she will be installed as our Vicar on 15th July, we headed to Pauline & Nicks house in Boningale for a BBQ. As Albrighton and Boningale are close to Cosford RAF base we had a great view of the air show with great views of the displays by The Red Arrows and the last display by the Vulcan Bomber. After Saturday’s rain we were presented with good BBQ weather and a chance to enjoy great food, great drink and great company.
Prior to heading off on
holiday we were engrossed with the TV programme 'Springwatch' which follows birds and animals and the birth of their young. Web Cams are placed in strategic areas including birds’ nests where you can watch the process from the laying of eggs, the hatching and feeding of the chicks to the final 'Fledging' as they leave the nest for the first time. Our favourite was the 'Blue Tits' where we followed the birth and growth of the 9 chicks.

Airshow
What a great holiday you have had. How special to have witnessed the final flight of the Avro Vulcan (also sad) - I well remember seeing the very early Vulcans at the Farnborough air show in the early 60's. It was always a beautiful sight flying high in the sky with it's characteristic delta shape. Like the Concorde though (also built on a delta wing shape), for everything there is a season. Blessings to you both.
