We started out with a city tour from a local tour guide and it was amazing! We then took a canal tour, had actual Belgium waffles (super delicious!) went for some beers, cheese croquettes, more beer, ice cream cones, and more beers! I LOVE it over here!! I had no idea how much Spanish influence there was over here. At least 200 years of Spanish rule. We saw the house (I should say palace) where the Spanish mayor lived who started the Inquisition. The Bishop used to live in one palace, but then had to move to another...probably wasn't big enough! He still lives there today. We saw the Wall of Beers where over 1000 beers are on shelves with their matching glass. They closed down just about when we got there, so only a couple of us were able to order a beer. We actually had no idea what time it was. It does not get dark until about 10:30 pm and gets light earlier than 5:00am. Sort of like Alaska.
We ended the day having drinks with our new friends Jim and Joyce from Michigan and Arizona. It's such a small world; they have two daughters that live
in Denver and one of them lives in Littleton, just a couple of miles away from where I live.
Such a wonderful place and such a wonderful time sharing this experience with "the girls"!
