I don’t know why I was so fascinated with Steve Irwin, the crocodile hunter, but he always made me laugh. His death was a sad event nine years ago but his zoo lives on.

It isn’t a large zoo but features some of Australia’s favorites. They have an animal hospital located close by and you can visit it too, however, our time didn’t allow.

Spent some time looking at his memorial that comprises all kinds of items that people sent. There were khaki shirts that were signed by mourners. Our guide said that after his death, cars were lined up along the entrance to his zoo and the employees brought out the shirts for people to sign. We saw a crocodile and bird show and had time to visit the animals before returning to the ship.

In the evening we attended a private cocktail hour to celebrate Tom Jones’ birthday and to bid adieu to friends, Dan and Diane Nelson. After cocktails we sped off to the Polo restaurant where we were meeting four other friends, one of whom was celebrating his birthday. That foursome are also leaving us in Sydney. Over three hundred people are getting off in Sydney and over four hundred are getting on so we will have a fuller ship than we’ve had. About 120 are still cruising until July.

Crikey
I enjoyed the crocodile hunter it was so sad when he died in such a tragic way, looks like you had a nice visit to his zoo. I know you will enjoy Sydney try to get to Darling Harbor it has a lot of fun restaurants and Pedestrian walkways and a monorail you can ride to different areas around it. Its a few water taxi stops from Sydney Harbor. We stayed at a spot which overlooks the Harbor the 2 times we visited Sydney. I also enjoyed the Queen Victoria Building, and of course the Opera House! Enjoy your time there. I look forward to your next blog. Still waiting on this end for arrival of the Bambino!
