This morning we had boiled eggs and toast for breakfast: not satisfying at all but temporarily shut up that voice in my stomach yelling 'Feed me!'. It was also pouring rain so we all pulled out our fashionable ponchos (I had bought mine from the market on the first day of trekking). We hiked through some extremely lush jungle; surprisingly alot of it reminded me of hiking back home. We finally made it to the river where we had the bamboo rafts waiting for us. Each raft had a driver and I think we pulled the short straw. Our raft captain was deaf and also very animated whenever we did anything we shouldnt have done. He would literally scream like a banshee and shoot us dirty looks. At first this scared the shit out of me, but I grew to find humour in it to cover up my fear. SOme of you may think this is really cruel, but if you were there, you would do the same thing.

The boats were poorly made and most peoples broke, ours was broken from the start and verytime I stepped on a certain piece of bamboo I would sink, by the end, I could only step on two pieces without falling into the water... Thai craftmanship, gotta love it! We made it to the end of the river which more or less ended our Chiang Mai Treking experience. For under $100, this was a well worth investment: Beautiful sights, good times and memories.

We drove back 2 hours to Chiang Mai city and I hung onto the back of the truck the whole time which was uncomftorable, but fun, especially when it started to pour rain. In thailand it likes to rain randomly and hard for about 5 minutes, and then get nice again. Love the tropics.

That night the group went out to dinner at some wentern 'Chiang Mai Saloon' and then went dancing at a club that I called 'La fiero' but I think was called spicy. Twas a good day, but I think tomorrow I'm going to get a massage to relax these overused muscles.
