Just havin' a little fun at the maritime museum!
Yesterday was a lazy day according to the Frenchmen in my room (probably because they walked into the room and I was in bed writing yesterday's blog at 11:00 ?)... But I got up and walked to the Viking Maritime Museum of Reykjavik. It's great how close in proximity everything is to each other... Close enough to be able to walk everywhere but far enough to get a heck of a lot of exercise, aha. The museum wasn't really what I expected but it was still pretty cool to learn about how the fishing industry has evolved in Iceland and how passionate they are about it!

After a quick stop in Subway for lunch (I know, I know, it was cheap ok?!) I headed in what I thought was the right direction to the Nation Museum of Iceland, only to pull out a map and ask for directions because I wasn't getting anywhere fast. I ended up stumbling upon city hall which is surrounded by a beautiful pond and a more authentic, old part of Reykjavik. The museum was right around the corner by the university. Lots of cool stuff, and thank God everything was translated to English cause I really can't catch on to this madness they call Icelandic.

I then made my way back across the top of the city stopping at one of maaaaany tourist shops along the way home and got a couple of things. However, I quickly realized that this is going to be more of a experiencing trip, not a buying one, or else University is going to be pretty hard to fund!

I bought a sandwich and some tomatoes for dinner and headed back to the hostel where I had a conversation for hours with my roommates about languages, our respective countries and just life in general. Just my luck that they're leaving this morning ?

Oh well, that keeps my hopes up that there will be others like them at the next places I stay!
