COPPER STATECOPPER STATECOPPER STATE

This was the old cockfighting arena in Ehrenberg. There are others around but I am not telling where they are. They still host underground events that should be once again legalized so that our corrupt public officials can have one less lie on their conscience when they go meet their maker.
COPPER STATE ARENA

I am going to have to climb way up on my soapbox here. Rooster fighting has been a grand source of entertainment the world over since long before the first chickens ever arrived on our shores. Cockfighting and horse racing were the best forms of entertainment that our country had until Amos and Andy came on the radio. The cock fights were forced underground after a while because the government was not getting a cut of the gambling revenue. Eventually cockfighting was made illegal at the discretion of each state’s government although politicians and county sheriffs still got their bets down and enjoyed free fried chicken at the events they attended. During election years those same hypocrites made newspaper headlines as tough law and order candidates for cracking down on gambling; while continuing to take bribes from the organizers of the rooster events. In the State of Arizona that sort of corruption did not exist prior to 1998 because cockfighting was completely legal. Some animal rights activists, vegans, cross-dressers, and multiculturalists got all puffed up over it and raised such pluperfect hell that cockfighting was outlawed. That sort of thing should never be allowed to happen, and I am ashamed that it did. Just because a few noisy blowhards find an activity to be not to their liking they want to make sure that nobody else can enjoy it. Dang tofu is about the most objectionable crap I ever have heard of. It ought to be outlawed too out of good taste and decency. What would the contemptible animal rights activists, vegans, cross-dressers, and multiculturalists make of that? If you don’t like something it is okay to just leave it alone rather than try to forbid others from taking pleasure from it. Cockfighting still goes on, by the way, but now law abiding people have been made into criminals. Our politicians and sheriffs, of course, have always been criminals. On a personal level I neither condemn, nor do I condone cockfighting and have never attended an event. I do hate like the blazes to see an activity that does no harm forbidden to us all by a few soreheads who object. Live and let live fer chrissakes.
