cardiff castle
You wouldn't believe it!!! I got a lift to cardiff from Jule's dad, when we arrive i see all these rainbow flags everywhere,.....ding ding ding ding a bell went off - a gay and lesbian mardi gras!!! Yes, i happened to arrive in cardiff the exact weekend of the mardi gras - very interesting start!!

After checking in, I went to the hostel bar for a nice beer. And what would happen, but I would meet some guys who were organising a night for the new hostel nightclub. Just my luck!!! Obviously they invited me down to the club, which i went, and i meet some really lovely people - all welsh of course, oops sorry 1 englishman. We danced the night away, until the club closed, then decided it was a good idea for them to show me a really good night, so we went to another club - club x. And yes being mardi gras, it was definently for the men!!!! We had a great time, but was a little hungover so not much sightseeing was being done on sunday!!! Oh and thanks for waking me mum and dad - a phone call on a sunday morning at

HOw beautiful - Alana the Geese were for you
11am??? not good

I actually made it to the castle in my state, wondered around in a daze, then came back to hostel and was in bed by 8.30pm. But had to get up early for a day of sightseeing (had to make up for lost time on sunday).

On Monday i made my way to Chepstow and on to Tintern Abbey. Wow what a place so awsome and mystical!!! I could have wondered around all day, but with transport connections i didn't have long (1 1/2 hours). Got back to Chepstow, had a wonder around the castle - yes second in as many days. Supposedly Wales has more castles than anyother place in Europe!!! and Chepstow is probably one of the oldest!!! Basically i had a great day of sightseeing and even got picked up in Chepstow by one of the guys i met on Saturday night!!! He gave my a tour on the way back to Cardiff, we then ended up getting pissed, and ended up in a bar which was having a burlesque night!!! very interesting indeed!!! I have met some really nice people whilst i have been here, so thanks alot Cardiff!!!

oh the atmosphere!!!
here I am again with a hangover/tired over and still haven't made it out of Cardiff. I say I may end up back in Bristol a day early just to recover before paris (and do the washing.)

Before i got here, i was getting told mixed reports about cardiff, however I gather it has changed quite alot, supposedly it has been cleaned up alot in the last few years. It still has cute little shopping arcades, supposedly because the council never had the money to knock them down and rebuild like london did!! I will be back i am sure, however maybe not during mardi gras, and not going out every night!!

Well on my last day, I went and saw, yes you guessed it, more castles!!!!! they were both completely different from one another.

Caephilly was all broken down, but still really amazing!!!! Castell Coch was like a fairy tale castle - rebuilt in the 19th Century (as a summer house beleive it or not??). They are truelly amazing to see and especially explore. however, my fun filled days in wales had to come to an end, so back to Bristol for recovery, then on to
