Today was the first day since I arrived that Mount Kilimanjaro was visible for the entire day, and let me tell you...she was beautiful! For those of you who don't know, Kili is a dormant volcano and at 5,895 m is the highest mountain in Africa and the highest free-standing mountain in the world . The oldest person to ever summit Kili was an 87 year-old man, and the youngest was a 7 year-old boy, if you're interested in reading some other climbing records, check out this site : http://www.climbmountkilimanjaro.com/about-the-mountain/record-climbs/ ...I am so thankful that I have the great pleasure of living right beside the mountain, it's hard to not want to experience something that you get to see everyday, so I've decided to plan my hike for the end of March. I was originally thinking of doing it in December of this year, but I've just booked a trip to Zanzibar (more on that later :p). From what I've heard and researched, the biggest challenge is adjusting to the altitude change. Luckily I brought the right medication, and will be opting for a 5-7 day trek to allow my body the time it needs to acclimatize. If you have hiked

On clear days we all like to go to the abandoned railway to catch a great view of Kili. There is a little shop that you can buy drinks at and enjoy them on the tracks. The view is breathtaking.
Kili or know someone who has, please let me know! I love hearing people's stories and any tips would be very helpful! The invite is always out there for anyone to join me, people of all ages, shapes, and sizes have hiked Kili. Anybody can do it if you are motivated and up to challenge, but most of all if you believe in yourself 😊 I've put it out there into the universe, and hope that you will all hold me accountable to this incredibly audacious goal I have set for myself. I will keep you all updated with the details closer to the date, I have 5.5 months to physically and mentally prepare, wish me luck!

Swahili word of the day: Siafu: Biting Ants ....the reason my feet are incredibly itchy. TIA (This is Africa).

Peace&Love

Climbing the mountain
I would be right there climbing with ya if not for the one month old I will have :) maybe he/she can set the record as the youngest?? I wish lol Love the posts and love the pics. My Bro and Sis in law hiked it. Bro killed it, my sis in law had altitude sickness for most of it, so will ask them some tips and let ya know. You seem to be having an amazing time and so glad to see it. Maybe I can get my school helping your organization... not the other big one (won't name it :)) Missing you Happy Thanksgiving! xo
