Morning Moutains
Driving to the 100 Mile House, to Mum & dad's new house I just don't know where or how to begin!
I am back at Susan's in Burnaby after my romp around Banff & Lake Louise in Alberta. I am totally speechless, but you guys know me, where's there's a will, there's a way so I will do my best to pay justice to the sights I have seen.
As you know I booked a tour of Banff in the mornign & did Lake Louise in the afternoon. It was a rather shitty day weather wise (well for photo's anyway) but I did my best. It is the prettiest little village / town I have seen. The major attraction is Banff Ave where pretty much everythign is. All the hotels & the hostel where I stayed (SameSun Backpackers), the major shops & restaurants. I spent the 1st day wandering around there. It was a little dull so I hit the hay early 9pm as did my other roomies. Up bright & early the next day for my tour.
We learnt all about the history of Banff, how it got it's name, who found it and all the touristy things one should know about where they are visiting. I got some
Morning Moutains 2
What a glorious & peaceful time of the day to travel. amazing shots that I am including. We then stopped at the Old Spaghetti Factory for lunch which was ok, the view from the window was spectacular!!
In the P.M it was off to Moraine Lake, Two Jake Lake & Lake Louise. Moraine Lake was 1st. It was ok, all the lakes around this areas are gorgeous, but I was holding my breath for the big one.....LAKE LOUISE!! We got there & I was the 1st one off the bus & heading down the track to the lake. I caught a glimpse of the lake through the trees & immediately tears sprung to my eyes. I stopped to tie my shoe lace (wink wink) while I got a tissue then continued down the path. It was MAGNIFICENT!!!!! I don't remember what the tour guide was telling us as I was too mesmerised by the sight infront of me. I just kept repeating to myself "I am here, I am actually here......this is not Getaway or The Greet Outdoors with Ernie or Tom......This is me, Kelly Maree Heath Princess Darling, looking at this, smelling this, hearing this, feeling this." It was the best feeling I have had since I have been
Small Canadian town
This town is called Hope and it is a quaint little town with great Candain hospitality. We stopped here for breakfast on the way to the 100 mile house. here! I walked around taking photos (which I am a little disappointed with looking back on now, but it didn't take away from the feeling) then I just sat & felt the breeze on my face and watched the clouds rolling over the mountains & Victoria Glacier (which is the little hill in the background with the glacier on it). There were so many tourists there with their cameras but somehow I was able to block them out & just be. I was so aware of everything around me and so peaceful that I know that I will always have that feeling & memory with me. It may sound silly to some but it was a real spiritual moment for me. That is all I can put into words about it.
Next we stopped at Two Jake Lake. Luckily the sun came out for these shots as they turned out rather well if I do say so myself. They still do not do the real thing any kind of justice but they were better photos. Have you ever seen the shots of the lakes in Canada where they are like mirrors???? Well this was exactly that! A mirror. Not
A Bear
Unfortunately this is the only bear that I have seen. only could you see the reflection of everything you could see the reflected colours of everything!!! It was, again, something I will never forget.
Tour ended at 5:30, I got dropped back at the backpackers. I went in & asked if grog could be brought back as they have no bar (HOW RUDE!!). Yeap, can bring grog back. Walked back downtown which was about 4 blocks, talk about location, location, location. Picked up a few knickknacks. I am totally OVER trying to decide what or where to eat so I picked it and got Maccas....lol. Went to the Liquor Store, got me some Smirnoff Ice & headed back to Aussie central (there are more Aussies in Banff than Canucks). Now, my 1st night at the hostel was boring & I thought, no way am I spending another night like that. So when I wnet into my dorm 2 girls were chatting, Erin, whom I had meet the previous night & a new chic called Kat. Erin is Aussie & Kat was a Canuck. we talked for about 1 hour then I invited them out to the courtyard for a vodka as you are not allowed to drink in the
Gastown
It's a gas!! rooms. We wnet out there for about 2 hours & chatted to other travellers (mainly Aussies, God we've got good taste) then we headed to bed as we both had early mornings. So, my 2nd night was way better than my 1st. Can't wait for the U.K hostel as they have a bar & it is probably 4 times as big!!
On the bus the next morning (this morning) at 9am. Sat with a lovely woman from Hungary, we chatted for awhile, then Sandy sat next to me, we had a good talk & giggle til I got back to Coquitlam (closest depot to Susan's house). Now I am finally home. I've done a load of washing & then after this entry I am off to bed. Hopefully I am off to Whistler tomorrow then out to Toronto & Montreal on Monday. Will keep you posted on where I am when. From her on in I think it will be Internet Cafes & hostels that I will be using so not sure about more photos. Will try my best.
Thanks for all your comments. I love coming online and seeing messages from everyone. Better sign off now cause
