We have been living in China for 3 months now......time has flown by. There are a few things that have amazed me in this time spent here but the biggest thing is how people are so friendly, greeting me on the street with a friendly hello and smile and when in the supermarkets or shops the staff are always welcoming and when they serve you at the till they always make eye contact, smile and say hello and always a thank you. There have been so many times back in England when I have been shopping in Asda or Morrisons and the staff are grumpy, hardly ever make eye contact and never say "that will be £10 please/ thank you" These little things to make a BIG difference! Manner do not cost a thing!! We get a lot of taxi's to get around here....the roads are just so busy, I find it safer to get to places. The taxi drivers are all polite and helpful, I had a driver yesterday who was teaching me Chinese words as we travelled!! And they ask about my family, children's ages, where we are from etc.

I went to a flower market last week, a very nice experience!! Never been to anything like it before, it was 2 huge ware house kind of buildings. I have never seen so many plants and pots!! There were also lots of wooden tables, chairs and wood and stone carvings and Chinese decorations. I treated myself to some lovely roses and a couple of vases and a Chinese hanging decoration. My Nan would have a great time shopping here!!!

Matthew got invited to another birthday party at the weekend, a Chinese girl from his class.....it was at a pub! They had millions of balloons!!! And so much food, the staff kept coming out with plates and plates of food!!! I had a lovely chat with Matthew's teacher (she gets invited to all the parties!!) and she was saying how well Matthew is doing at school and how he is more confident in the classroom and he has many friends now. He has so much homework at this school compared to school back in England. He has to do daily: reading, writing, Chinese writing practise, Maths, and spellings - Matthew only had 5 spelling words back in England to do, here its 15!! He got full marks last Friday so this has given Matthew a big boost!! So our biggest battle here is complete I think!!

Last week we went to a charity musical show put on by the children at Matthew's school. Amazing children and so talented. There were children aged 5/6 playing piano perfectly and a drumming group that was just "wow"

We have found this nice little pub and restaurant that serve fabulous foods!! The owner is a lovely American man and he made the boys feel right at home!! Matthew and William sat up at the bar, chatting away to him and then Matthew went round the other side and poured his own drink!! It was nice to eat our dinner in peace!! Then Matthew helped to collect the empty glasses and William rearranged their kitchen!! Think this may be a weekly night out!!!

Here are a few photo's of these children and the flower market...........
