Juicing the limes
Making some mean margaritas. March 3, 2014
Lazy day...breakfast at Cafecito...Joe and Roger played in the horseshoe tournament at the Split Coconut...Joe and I watched the surfers at sunset, got some tacos to go, and ate grapefruit frozen yogurt on the shop balcony.
Had a panicky 15 minutes when I couldn't find my prescription sunglasses. Finally found them in Joe's eyeglass case. His glasses were on the dresser. The maid did it. Good thing we don't have a maid at home, we'd never be able to find anything.

We were up early to walk east 1.2 miles along Playa Zicatela to The Point. We watched the surfers there for quite some time then ate breakfast at a great little cafe nestled in the palm trees. We hadn't explored this area before and thought it was charming. We took a colectivo back home. We have pool privileges at the condos across the street but this afternoon was the first time we've used it. We met a very friendly couple, Ann and Steve, from Portland, OR (everyone from Portland is friendly, right Dave?) and enjoyed visiting with them. When they told us they own dry cleaning services there I stupidly
View for our rooftop terrace.
That's the Pacific Ocean out there. started singing the theme from the Jeffersons..."Movin' on up..." then quickly said I bet you've never heard that before. Ann said, "We don't hear it much anymore, only from older people." Ouch. It was another beautiful sunset on Playa Zicatela.

Set a personal record for the number of people in the back of a colectivo on the way to town today...there were 16 of us in there with three men hanging on the back. We had another culturally enriching experience eating breakfast at Juquilinas again. There were at least 200 people eating at those long rows of tables including several futbol teams and it seemed that we were not going to be waited on. After about 15 minutes of waiting, the very nice man and his wife that were next to us got a servers attention and told him to help us and we were immediately helped. I think they felt sorry for the only two gringos in the cafe. At the market we spent a long time visiting with two 80 year old men and each had been coming here for over 35 years. One of them is the brother of A U.S. Senator
from Oklahoma.
Took a taxi to the bank to get more pesos and talked to Gina on the Adoquin who booked our birding excursion for us for Friday. We told her we needed to go to the Super Che (supermarket) now that we had some money and just as we said that the wife of the birding trip leader drove by and Gina asked if she would give us a ride and she did! Got the things we needed, but the store was so crowded it took twice as long as we'd planned.
We didn't get back in time for Joe to play horseshoes at the Split Coconut, but Joe went there anyway to cheer Roger on.
Sad to say that Roger is leaving tomorrow,we will sure miss him! Tonight Joe, Gay, and I helped him celebrate his last night here with drinks and guacamole at The Spot. It was an exceptionally beautiful sunset and there were even fireworks over the town. We're pretty sure the whole town is going to miss him and the fireworks show was Puerto's way of saying, "Adios, Amigo" to Roger.

Adios Roger
On your own now! What a great way to learn the ropes fast, with Roger's help. Great timing and great luck you had.
