Garcinia Mangostana
The Mangosteen: Queen of Thai Fruit. Fruit of the Day displayed daily at Banyan Tree Bangkok, Silom. Six years have passed since the last trip to Land of Smiles. It feels so unnatural to go so long without traveling there. I would stomach the 18-20 hour journey once again to relish in the pleasures of what this peaceful nation has to offer. Which, by the way, why can't Thailand be renamed as The Land of Glistening Temples? I mean, this is the first thing one notices just before landing in Bangkok. The concern I have is how much the country has changed since the last visit. Most nations are so influenced by the West and the fast paced life, commercialism is rampant and a total snowball effect with most nations of the world. I hope the traditional way of life has not changed too much. Don't get me wrong, I love the outdoor and indoor shopping meccas and the fabulous food EVERYWHERE and the incredible health spas; however, most of the things I miss cannot really be measured. Like the brilliant attack on the senses while walking down a street in Bkk and being assaulted with eye-tearing pepper being stir-fried while young boys pass by selling fragrant fresh jasmine garlands for prayer offerings. You just cannot buy that
Mall of the future
Siam Paragon by night, 2006. When's the last time you saw a sportscar dealership in your mall? memory. Well, a plane ticket does not really count, but you get me. The best I can do is plan for the next trip and hope for a safe journey and be blessed I can rekindle the memories of past trips. Tee soot lao!

Enter the golden gates of Shangri la: Honeymoon in Thailand.
The only bad part of this trip was leaving our memory stick behind at Mom Tri Villa resort in Phuket. There were loads of images of California, Ireland and Thailand. Until a time machine is invented to go back in time to correct this sort of mindless thinking don't forget your photos, no matter how much of a rush you are up against. The moments will never be created again!
This Thailand travel blog is dedicated to Denise La Fontaine-Simpson who suggested I travel to Thailand 10 years ago. Have a cold nam manao with me at The Oriental or Banyan Tree. Love ya, Sandy.
