Stylish too.
Rainland today.

Not been too bad the weather. Rained the first day, and today, but the rest of the time has been fine.

So, easy day. A leisurely drive down the south coast of Rainland to see more volcanoes, more waterfalls, some trolls and a volcanic beach.

The land is quite mountainous, but it’s nothing like the Lakes. I guess the difference is that, although the Lakes are volcanic (help me out here Sed), they are old and weathered. The land here is quite new, so the mountains are jagged and sharp. Very uncomfortable to lie on.

Anyway, down to business.

Testicle Cake.

It’s an Icelandic delicacy apparently. They take lamb’s testicles, marinade them in whey, then press them into blocks and, Hey Presticle, Testicle Cake. (I thought it was bollocks when I first heard it, but it isn’t, and it is!).

Would I like some?

Oooo – not right now thanks. Couldn’t eat another thing. That biscuit I had has really filled me up and I’m stuffed. Don’t let me stop you though.

And . . .

Necropants.

There’s a museum of Sorcery and Witchcraft in Iceland. We haven‘t been to it, but we read this interesting article in one of the tour books that we thought we should share with you. It was about necropants.

Necropants are trousers made from the skin of a dead man’s legs and groin. It was commonly believed that the necropants would spontaneously produce money when worn, so long as the donor made an honest verbal agreement that his corpse could be skinned upon his death. Once dead and buried, the donor corpse had to be unearthed at the dead of night, then a magic rune and a coin from a poor widow (the penniless widow always gets picked on in Icelandic lore) were placed in the dead man’s scrotum. The necropants brought incredible wealth to the wearer, any time money was needed, one could reach down into the scrotal area and voila! There was a catch however, if you were to die wearing the necropants, your soul would be condemned to wander the Earth until the end of time.

And you know what?

They work. They really work.

I’m rich I tells ya. Rich beyond my wildest dreams.

(Hey listen, as a consequence of my Socialist leanings, if anyone else wants any money next time I see you, just help yourself).

It’s our last day at the Hotel Ranga today. Tomorrow we’re off to the Northern Lights Inn for our final night and a trip to the Blue Lagoon.

STOP PRESS

Apparently, there was a massive CME (Coronal Mass Ejection) yesterday and some of it is Earth facing. Increased auroral activity is forecast, possibly night of the 1st Oct or the night after. Forecast for where we’ll be tomorrow night is . . . partly cloudy.

The suspense is killing me.

I can’t stand it.
