Marion's official anchorage is just inside Ram Island, marked by a ring of small buoys. It looks impossibly small but in fact has space for a dozen boats and you may well be the only boat at anchor. Most people here use a mooring. You may even be able to get launch service from the anchorage into town but I am not sure. It is a good half-mile row to the town dock but the anchorage is very well protected and you will be rowing through a mooring field that is filled with pretty boats.

Our mooring from Burr Brothers cost us $40. Their launch has a substantial set of steps and handrails and Jana reckons that this launch is “the best in the bay” for getting on and off Pavane’s rather high deck. The Burr Brothers boatyard includes a ships store.

Marion’s “town center” is just a couple of blocks near the town dock and harbormaster’s office. This is where you will find the Marion General Store. There are coin-operated showers at the harbormaster’s office and water is available on the town dock.

There is no restaurant in the town center. Sippican Cafe is only a few minutes walk from Burr Brothers Boatyard, which is at the head of the harbor. But the cafe is not on Front Street, nor is it on Route 6. The cafe’s address is 167 Spring Street, almost within spitting distance of, but out of sight from, Route 6!

Really Enjoying the Blog
Steve and Jana, Sounds like a marvelous trip! I'm sure the info will be valuable to sailors without as much knowledge of the area. Glad you were off the boat on Friday. We were camping in Maine for the buckets of rain. Not fun!
