Well what a story to tell, we left Derby and headed for Broome, after settling into a caravan park just outside of the town and across the sand dunes from the famous Cable beach, we went exploring.Having been here before 3 yrs ago we were not expecting to much. It's seems bigger than last time ,much more tidy and clean. Over the next couple of days we did some sight seeing and lazing on the beach.Cable beach has a reputation of being in the top 5 in the world, the pictures don't do it justice. Broome is also famous for it's pearls and the town has several shops selling pearls as well as a local pearling farm.Pearls were the backbone of Broome in the past and has a very rich history to match. Just out of town is a lighthouse at which can be found a dinosaurs footprint at low tide with a replica in sandstone on top of the cliffs.

We stayed in Broome for 3 days before heading to eighty mile beach some 300km away, what a beautiful place and very popular they don't take bookings so it's first in first served, when we arrived the only available site was either un powered or a generator site we chose the generator site.We got our first puncture here.A couple with a trailer tent moved in at the back of us and we became good friends over the next 3 days.We spent our time fishing and again lazing about. The sunsets were amazing again this coastline is fascinating, just a magic place.Because of our puncture we decided to head for Port Hedland on leaving eighty mile beach to get a repair and maybe a new set of tires.

This is now the sad part some 30km out of Port Hedland we were involved in a major motor accident resulting in Jackie and me having to be transported by ambulance to the local emergency dept were we were fully examined and well cared for.We were discharged some 6 hours later battered and bruised with only one fracture to my little finger.Jackie sustained some severe bruising from the seat belts and air bags and the bruising continues to show more each day.We can't thank to much the people who came to our rescue, fellow travelers, the two female paramedics, the road workers who were nearby working, the police and the very professional hospital staff. The RACQ came to the party and gave us accommodation and car hire for 6 days,we fly back to Brisbane tomorrow. The car is a right off and we think also the caravan although we wait the deliberations of the 2 insurance companies. So for the time being no more blog,it is our intention to re group in Brisbane amongst our friends who have been fantastic in their support and offers of help

Hi Bill thanks for the blogs mate, has kept us all enthralled and at the country and as usual entertained! Sorry about the accident, looking at the cars The Lord himself was with you that day! Hope this has not dented your confidence ( not likely!) and that as soon as practical you guys can continue your great adventure. Get back to Brissy and get yourselves sorted and look forward the resumption of service. Both take care. Jan & Al xx
