BBQ
Jill is in heaven - notice the drool??? We arrived safetly in Montevideo early evening and decided to go to an Irish bar?! after dinner, for a quick after dinner drink???? As you can imagine it wasnt too quick!!! We decided to go to that particular bar as it was unusually busy for it only being 10pm (things dont really get going over here until midnight-1am), then we noticed the dodgy hawaiin shirts, and heard the accents - oh no!!! it was a boat load of British Navy!!!
We tried to hide, but they found us!!! There was 4 navy girls and the 7 of us!!!! Do you think we got attention or what!!! Jane and I got talking to some cute locals who eventually relented and took us to a local club. Unfortunately 5 of the navy boys tagged along!!!! The club was rather interesting??!! We danced, twirled and did the conga!!! Alot of attention from the locals (unfortunately not really cute ones!!), then the best bit started!!! The local band/singers/dancers came on, blue, gold and white striped uniforms!! WE didnt know whether to laugh or cry? We were pretty good though and pretended we were enjoying it as much as the locals - another few drinks
Montevideo
Nearly there!!! and we were!!!!
Eventually we made it too bed at about 4am!! But unfortunately we were up at 8am to walk around the city. Montevideo is actually quite beautiful, alot of the buildings are in disrepair, but the city council is finally starting to do them up!! We shopped at the markets (yes and even bought some lovely presents for our lovely families - see we do think of you!!!, oh and yes, Kate bought another red hat!!!), ate empanadas, basically recovered!!! In the afternoon, we went to a shopping centre that use to be a jail!!?? Unusual we know, but good use of a large multi level building!!!
Off to Colonia then Buenos Aires tomorrow, Yippeeee!!!!!
Love you!!

The gate
Just back in BA from Montevideo. Thought the gate looked a bit odd stuck there by itself on the edge of the plaza.
