The Coral Coast of Fiji has left me with A lifetime of warm, happy and joyous memories.

Pristine aqua waters that sparkle and reach out forever, beyond glittering white sands. Sounds of the gentle swaying of palm trees whispering about the love of life, and the honour it is to be here.

People go about their business with an inner pride and love for life. Beautiful smiles that greet you, a stranger, exuding all the warmth and help they are prepared to give. A frangipani is placed in your hair to welcome you into their world, and with it comes an invitation to share and enjoy their lives.

Untouched nature in all its glory quietly beckons and consumes me as I wander about, in total awe and contentment. Beaches begging to be discovered, silently inviting us to sink our feet into the gentle grains of a million sands, to walk for miles, and not even wanting to return. Multiple shades of blue and green enhance the waters, as clear and pristine as could only be imagined in a postcard. Coral, still enriched with colour is scattered upon the shores, amongst multi-coloured shells and occasional plant life. We settle into the peaceful, silent beauty of our surrounds.

Stumbling upon a random village, whose life evolves around the sea is an unexpected and wonderful surprise. The sound of children's laughter echoes as they run toward us with open arms and huge smiles, revealing the whitest of teeth and brownest of huge sparkling, happy eyes. Excited chatter as they welcome us, and take our hands leading us into their lives. Basic dwellings, a sense of peace and happiness exudes within their carefree lives. A joy to behold.

Our sailboat heads off towards the horizon, coasting through miles of ocean toward a lone island. We are served a bounty of delicious foods, fruit, sumptuous local delicacies and an assortment of cocktails, along with the constant refill of our glasses with our choice of alcohol. We feel like kings, being waited upon and revelling in the comfort and ease they so kindly offer. The sun is hot and engulfing upon our skin. We are alive, happy, we are complete. Laughter and song surround us. We continue to sail for a few hours, amidst the sounds of acoustic music and local songs. Absorbing the atmosphere, silent and thankful thoughts, the joy of being here now, awaiting with eagerness to catch a glimpse of our island.

In the distance it appears, in all its glory. The small, uninhabited island, majestic, with its pristine, white glistening sand, adorned with beautiful waving palm trees and surrounded by the bluest and clearest water I have ever seen. Uninhabited, untouched. A paradise to behold. We are excited and eager, as it beckons us. We are happy, We are thankful to have the joy of this special moment. We are free.
