Working hard.
Winding the lock gates up and down has become one of my very regular jobs. Very good for me. Well, what a mixture of weather we have had. We have been caught in heavy downpours , boiled by the sun and even had some fairly strong wind. But as on any holiday you make do with what you get and enjoy yourself. We have been on the move most days and have done a couple of long days to get further down the canal so we wouldn't be rushed when getting to Joigny, our final destination. We have seen some great sights and and the gentle country side that we have traveled over the last couple of days has been very very pretty. Traveling through the tunnels after leaving Baye was a high light as the longest one is 758 mts long. No lighting and very very dark. we had to light the way with torches so that we didn't bash the side of the canal. I can't believe the bird life in the trees. The bird calls are constant and so loud that even I can hear them. We have seen otters, fish, deer, goats and the usual water bird life. Many many fishermen, some grumpy lock keepers, some friendly lock keepers, some very pretty lock keepers, some very pretty

Producing a chicken pasta. We have eaten on board most of the time. lock houses, some really run down lock houses and some fantastic flower gardens. Some villages are loverly, but some had the feeling of depression about them and when walking or biking in the evening we just wouldn't see anyone and very few lights. We have eaten on the boat most of the time and the shopping at super markets has led to some interesting experiences. Only 3 days to go so i will catch up later. Hope every one who watches this is well. Pip/Rod
PS. On reviewing this blog I have found that some of the photos have fallen off so I will do another that you can look at in conjunction with this.
