Guten tag!

Right now we are in Füssen, which is about a two hour train ride from Münich. We came here to see the famous Neuschwanstein castle, but we are putting it off because it is really cold and rainy at the moment.

We didn´t get a chance to finish writing about our time in Paris so that´s where we will begin...

Afer the Opera house, (last Tuesday) we went to the Musee d´Orsay, which was amazing. We were told to go directly to the top floor, because that´s where all of the impressionistic paintings are, such as works by Van Gogh, Monet, Manet, Renoir and Seurat. I (Diana) loved it so much that I went back again on Thursday. I could stare at one painting for an hour. I love being in art galleries. They are really inspiring and enchanting, even when they are full of tourists.

Wednesday we went to the Louvre in the morning and cut the line which would have taken us four hours, because we found a short cut in one of our trusty travel books. The Louvre was very interesting and we really enjoyed it, but it was overwhelming and crowded. After the Louvre we went to Notre Dame. It really is remarkable to see how well this building still looks, since it was built in 1334.

After Notre Dame we went to the Eiffel Tower. The line was ridiculous but the view was worth it. Not much more to say about that.

Thursday we decided to spend the day doing our own things. I (Diana) went back to the Musee d´Orsay and did a little wandering. Lindsey slept in and spent four and a half hours in H&M and ended up buying one dress. It´s a very pretty dress though!

That night we picked up some groceries from the La Fayette market and ate in our hotel lobby. Up until last night we were malnourished, because we´ve been living on bread, cheese and wine, and the occasional eclair... Did we mention before how expensive Paris is? It´s worth it though because the city and the people are bursting with beauty.

FRIDAY: The Day of Kindness

Late on Thursday evening, when we sent our last message, we had just booked a hostel in Münich. We still had to pack and figure out what time the train left. It was a gongshow. By the time we finished packing it was 4 am and our train left at 6:41 am, so we got our favourite front desk clerk, not Vincent anymore but the sweetest Parisian man in the world, whose name is pronounced "Jerry." He called a cab for us, opened up the kitchen so we could have a breakfast feast of fresh croissants and orange juice, carried our bags for us... way more than he had to. At that moment his kindness meant more to us than he will ever know. And because of him, we got to the train station safely.

It was a little daunting being at the seemingly deserted train station. We had to keep a watchful eye on our belongings and surroundings because there was a group of three professional pickpocketers walking around. Lindsey is smart and caught on to their tactics way before I did.

When we boarded the train we chose to sit in a cabin which was near the size of our hotel room in Paris. Apparently it was for 1st class pass holders that had made a reservation. For some miracle of God noone asked us to move. It was a beautiful way to see the French and German countryside. We were literally each sprawled out across three chairs.

We have to go now because our time has run out. We will write soon about our two days in Münich. Tomorrow we head to Vienna and Salzburg.

Please keep writing us! We love hearing from you!

Love, Lindsey and Diana

So are the croissants there just amazing, or what?
I'm glad you're having fun and not having your pocket picked. I'm there in my mind.... ! I really have nothing to say but your last sentence prompted me to comment.. Hope to hear from you soon! JASON

I'm so happy you found the "secret entrance" to the Louvre--keep that one on the lowdown. Hey, I guess if it's in your guidebook, it's already on the...uphigh? Oh dear. When you're in Salzburg, make sure to purchase one of those cheesy Mozart umbrellas. Also, I dare you to make it through a whole day without being informed, yet again, that it's his 250th birthday. Then ask, "Mozart? Who's Mozart? I don't think we have him in Canada." Happy travels!
