So this blog has been a long time coming... I lost the passion of writing and travel for a while, but finally feel ready to get back into the blogs.. I have another exciting trip coming up in September which I definitely want to blog about and it doesnt feel right not documenting the last trip...

I missed the last entry of my epic Cambodia / Thailand trip from October 2011 but after reviewing it, decided to skip finishing it off as it was only a couple of days at the end in Phuket (which I have raved about in various blog entries!). This blog will cover the first part of my trip that started back on September 24th 2012... It was a trip that I had planned with the then 'love of my life' .. taking him to Khao Sok National Park.. the one place I have dreamt of taking 'the one' since falling in love with it back in 2006... and rather than getting the proposal I was hoping for, I ended up doing the trip with my ex! LOL.. We split about a month before we were due to leave and made the decision to still go on the trip.. despite the messy breakup we knew that, as always, we would still have a good time together.. it made for a very bittersweet trip for me... and something I wasn't really up to writing about for a long time.. but I am a fighter and I am back! 😊

The trip started flying via Sydney so we were up early and off on a 5 hour drive to Melbourne before a flight to Sydney. We stayed the night in Sydney in Darling Harbour and had dinner at Teppanyaki, a Japenese restaurant. The following day we headed off to the airport.. We spent a bit of time in the Duty Free sampling all the free alcohol.. good times and then settled in for a long flight!

We arrived in Kuala Lumpur and caught a taxi into the city. I normally take the bus but it seemed easier (and wasn't that expensive) to just get a taxi direct since there was two of us! Once we settled into our Guesthouse, Sahabat we headed down to Jalan Alor for a feast. After dinner we walked back to Sahabat stopping at a small massage place for a foot massage.

The following day we were up bright and early and walked over to Yut Kee Restaurant for breakfast.. this is a little gem of a place I found on a previous trip. From there, we caught a taxi to the Petrona Towers. We had arranged ahead of time with the Guesthouse to purchase our tickets and I would highly recommend this to everyone. It cost us an additional $3AUD per person by the Guesthouse but was so worth not having to line up for tickets.

On all my trips to KL, I have never bothered to visit the Towers but am so glad I did... It was much better than what I thought and was a well run tour. Upon arriving at the towers though we had a slight mishap... Ben thought I was getting out the door on my side of the taxi (hence me getting out into traffic) and slammed his door as he got out.... slamming my shin in the door... OMG Holy Mother of God... I was in SOOOO much pain... I eventually saw the funny side through the tears but it bruised up nicely.

After the tower visit, we went next door into the shopping centre. We found a supermarket and spent ages wandering around looking at all the different foods. We even found Australian milk and cheese (the cheese being produced with milk from Ben's family farm back in Mt Gambier!) ... As you can imagine he was quite excited. We grabbed some food from the supermarket including some freshly cooked marinated pork and headed back to the Guesthouse. After finishing the lunch, we went to a gym that we had found not far away (on top of one of the shopping centres) and had a huge workout! We were in there ages as it was huge and had so many cool weight machines we wouldnt normally have access to.

That night we headed to Sky Bar at the Traders Hotel for sunset drinks with a view over Petrona Towers. It was soooo nice. We had a booth at the window next to the pool and had some bar snacks with our drinks. It turned out to be ladies night and so free Margaritas for me! Turned out that our bill for the night didnt end up as much as it could have! Once we had photographed the hell out of the towers we left and caught a taxi to Chinatown where we wandered the nightmarkets, did a small bit of shopping and then called it a night. We had an early start the next morning with a flight to Surat Thani...

We pre-ordered a taxi for 4.30am and the next morning we set off. The only drama we had, was the taxi driver got confused and took us to the wrong airport.. slight panic knowing we were 20 min away from the right airport and we were cutting it fine to check in.. but we made it and were soon safely seated on a plane to Thailand...
