The CatacombsThe CatacombsThe Catacombs

Rachel and I playing dead
This morning we were going to the Underground. We were going down the escalators. We saw some people in Cardinals shirts going up the escalators. We were like "Woohoo, Cardinals" but the people didn't seem to care. I miss the Cardinals.

Anyway, we made our way to the Prague Castle...finally. When we got there, we discovered that the castle is not one building but rather several within the castle grounds.

The first building we went in was the St. Vitus Cathedral. It is the huge building you can see at the top of the hill from a ton of places. Anyway, we went in there. It was so weird seeing all of those people being tourists, but the place was still a church. I mean, they have all of these tourists and people coming in with their cameras and all that during the week, and they still have Mass on Sunday.

We also got to go into the catacombs. Rachel and I played dead for a picture, which pretty much embarassed everyone else in the group, which was fun.

We also got to go up the tower. There was a sign outside of it that warned us

Beautiful and huge
that we would have to walk up 287 stairs, which, at the time, did not seem to be too many. Well, the staircase was old and made of stone, and the stairs were windy. The staircase was enclosed with few windows, and not very wide. To make matters worse, it served as both the way up and the way down.

Anyway, 287 steps later, we finally made it to the top. It was definitely worth the trip up. The view was spectacular, definitely check out the pictures!

After going down the same 287 stairs, we finished looking around the cathedral, and then made our way to the palace. This palace was definitely a lot different than the ones we went to in Vienna, there wasn't a whole lot to see (or at least there wasn't a whole lot to see that was open to the public).

After that, we made our way to the golden lane, a line of cute shops down a road of old buildings towards the exit to the castle. We walked down a long set of stairs leading to the castle, and we were finished. The castle was cool enough, but I don't

We made it!
think it was my favorite thing in Prague (although we did get a lot of pictures.)

After that we grabbed a quick lunch, and after lunch we met up with our class to go to the Kafka museum. The museum was interesting enough, it focused on Kafka's life in Prague, but I had never read any Kafka so I didn't really know what he was all about. There was, however, a great view of the Charles River from the museum, so I was able to get a few pictures.

From the museum we went to a cafe with our teacher, who loves coffee and cafes. We met up with some students she had taught from the Anglo-American university. It was kind of neat to meet up with some other US students, although our programs are very different!

After the cafe we shopped around for a little bit. I bought some souveneirs and Christmas presents. We came back to the dorms, tired after a long day.

I was able to load the pictures from Olomouc and those from today onto facebook. Here is the link to all of my photo albums (the same as the one I

There should be 4 new albums, two from Olomouc and two from today.

Tomorrow is a busy day of class, but luckily they pushed our class time back until 11:15, so we finally get to sleep in!

During communism, people graffiti-ed a lot as a form of expression. This wall is the Lennon wall, which people have repeatedly painted over, but the graffiti just kept popping up. We went there in the afternoon before the cafe.

Go Cardinals!
I can't believe the Cardianl people didn't respond to you. As of this afternoon, the Cardinals are 58-42 and 5.5 games ahead of the Reds. Go Cardinals! I looked at all the new pictures you posted and they look great. The view from the top of the tower must have been fantastic! Hope to talk to you later tonight. -----Dad
