Today we went to a Stupa after we went up some steps where we saw the Naga (a snake). We walked down and there was a humungus river next to us. We went over the Mekong river on a car boat. When we got over there was a little village. At a little road stall there was some sugar cane. I tried some and it was really sweet. Jonathan

... we went back on a canoe, it was fast because it had a motor. We went to the night market, it was so bright. You should go there if you like bags, bracelets and scarves. Sophie

5 Facts about Laos; Area 236,000 sq/km, Capital Vientiane, Population 6.6 million, Currency Kip 1GBP = 11,000 Kip, Luang Prabang was once the royal capital. Jonathan

Today we arrived in Laos. It is a beautiful place, and very clean and quiet. There are lots of mountains. We climbed up a hill to see the view it was amazing. There are so many temples, they are so bright. One of them had gold on it. Sophie

Parental facts - Laos has the distinction of having more bombs dropped on it by the U.S during the Vietnam War than they dropped in the whole of WWII (Source LP) or 3 million bombs, one for each member of the population at that time (Source local tour guide). Bomb casings are everywhere and form the centre piece of many a local restaurant.

Apologies for the poorly named "Wat 1" and "Wat 2" in the photos, there really are a lot of temples in Luang Prabang and you soon lose track of which one is which.

Currency, you can get 1,000,000 kip out of an ATM, about $125.
