fish???fish???fish???

Its a bird.....its a plane....no...its a fish!
The first few pics were taken one of the last days that we were in Quartzsite. We decided to go into Mexico one more time. On the way, we saw something in the sky that looks like a fish! I'm guessing that maybe it is a weather balloon?? I can't imagine what else it could be. (Reminds me of one of those Goldfish crackers!) There is a casino just before you get to the border....a lot of RV's in the parking lot. Jim wanted a haircut, so the first place we went was a barber shop....$3.00 for the haircut (they did a good job). There are a lot of Dental offices in Mexico....and we even saw a building that advertised both Dental & a Bed & Breakfast??? We did a little shopping, then left. Mexico is a lot more fun with friends (miss you Marsha & Larry).

On Friday, we drove approx. 200 miles in an Easterly direction from Quartzsite, AZ to Casa Grande, AZ. It was a smooth and uneventful drive. Observations along the way: Spring is coming to the Arizona desert......green grass is showing up in the desert, yes green grass! It is patchy and definitely a 'weedy' grass, but grass non-the-less. Also, the Ocotillo now have leaves....they were like dead thorny sticks when we arrived. It is so nice after 2 months in a town with 3,000 full time residents to be back to civilization (Casa Grande has approx. 50,000 residents and a plethora of banks, supermarkets & department stores). As much as I love my solitude, after our friends left, the RV show closed and 90% of the dealers left, there was little to do. Today, Saturday, we were able to get back to our 'regular' schedule....got up about 6:30 am....out the door to yard & garage sales after breakfast, even found a few flea markets. Found a few good deals. Originally, we weren't looking to buy too much out here, not wanting to haul it all back to CT.....BUT....we met a dealer in Quartzsite who gave us a contact at Warrenton, TX (popularly known as 'Roundtop'😉 and we will be setting up there!! We plan on staying here in Casa Grande for 2 weeks, then we will head to 'Lazydays' in Tucson for 9 days, then along to Las Cruces, New Mexico (where we plan on a day trip to Roswell....gotta see those aliens!), then on to Warrenton, Texas. We have a campsite and half a tent for 9 days for much less than we pay at Brimfield. Our neighboring dealers, at Brimfield, MA, have been telling us to try Roundtop, but we have always told them that we are too far away. Well....we are trying to buy stuff now, since Roundtop is just a 'slight detour' from the route home.

The RV park where we are staying (Casa Grande RV Resort) is quite nice. We got a good deal, due to our 'Passport America' membership. The discounted price is only $105.00/week incl. electricity. There is plenty of space on the individual sites and there are lots of activities as well as 2 swimming pools, a hot tub, a pickleball court, a library, a billiards room, an exercise room, a card room, a crafts room, the clubhouse (where we can purchase meals a couple of time a week if we wish) and a clubhouse lounge (where they have occassional entertainment). In addition, there is free WIFI throughout the park and it actually works at 100%!

That's it for now.....

Linda

The pic came out dark, but between the 1st 2 pillars, the sign reads: Dental and between the pillars to the right it reads Bed & Breakfast. ( :

a lot of vendors set up 'shop' on the sidewalks outside the store fronts. I couldn't get a picture 'inside' because it's like entering a tunnel...and the vendors are constantly approaching you...so there isn't much room. Pretty much single file.

It surprised me to see all the green grass growing in the desert.

The desert heading into Casa Grande has a lot of Seguaro...more like the desert in Tucson...very different from the 'scrubby' desert in Quartzsite.

Looking forward hearing about how it goes at Roundtop....there is a large show in Canton, TX that goes on all the time also but not sure where it is located.

The Desert Green
Hi Linda and Jim, Started to write yesterday and got interrupted! Anyway, I was going to say that the desert greenery is most likely creosote bushes. They green up when we get rains and can play havoc with allergies. Apache Junction Flea Market looks like Quartzsite. Haven't been there. Love Casa Grande. Lots to do around the area and the same for Tucson. Sounds like you are going to have some fun and maybe some income in TX. Be interested to hear how you like the area. We think we are going to spend a few days near Yuma, going to the end of season party in Algodones 3/23. Larry wants to take the rig and park nearby, Winterhaven maybe. He loves those margaritas! Enjoying your blog and pics. Looking forward to more. I'm doing good. PT this morning and on the mend! Love you both, M & L
