After an early start, we left Porepunkah. The smoke haze from the Hotham fires limited our visibilty to under 500 metres. The burning eyes stayed with us until we turned off at Seymour.

Geoffrey, the GPS took us along some beautiful back roads straight to the Caravan Park at Castlemaine. This was a huge mistake!!!! Looking at it from the front we comtemplated not staying, but a walk around the park itself confirmed our initial assessment. A quick search of the directory, found one at Creswick, another 60 odd kms. One phone call and we rode straight there.

Our second camp set up, ran a lot smoother than the first, even though it was after 4pm and we were both tired from a days riding. It didn't take us long to find a pub that had a great chicken parmie and a few cold ales.

This spot is on a couple of fish filled lakes and right in the middle of the Victorian Goldfields.
