Day 2 - Today has consisted of being very jet lagged! We went to bed around 11.30pm local time and woke at 10am, that sounds great but really we could have slept all week!

We've spent today walking round in a bit of a trance. We skipped breakfast as we couldn't force ourselves out of bed in time and walked into town to find something that wasn't noodles. Ended up with some spring rolls and fish cakes which were good enough. Searching for food today has made us realise that we stumbled across a great resturant for dinner the previous evening, everywhere else seems to be more expensive! After food we came back to Lub D for a bit before taking the hour long walk up to the train station. It doesn't seem like an hour on the way up, there's so much to distract you. It's only on the walk home that you start to think your feet might fall off, you can't stop paying attention though as you're likely to trip over the pavement. Which by the way, are hilarious! It's like the workmen have dropped the slabs on the floor and gone, Ah that'll do!

Once we reached the train station we got the equivilant of the tube into Hua Lamphong to buy tickets for our 12 hour train journey up to Chiang Mai tomorrow. We're hoping that the air con does actually work and they provide us with some sort of toilet! Still not really sure what we're going to do for 12 hours... great for people watching though! We've booked the Green Tulip House for 2 nights in Chiang Mai. It will be good to see how different Thailand is in the north, especially out of the city environment. We'll be back to Bangkok after we tour round Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia so we'll be able to explore properly then. So much to see here, we haven't even scratched the surface.

Seen some great looking street food but haven't quite plucked up the courage to try any of it yet. It sort of puts you off when you see people sitting in the middle of the road with their plate balancing on the floor. Jonny is tempted by the sausage kebab looking things so I'll let him try it out first and see what happens!

Anyway, until Chiang Mai...
