Ignoring the grey clouds, we left on schedule, staying the night at Holbrook. Another great days ride through Wodanga and Myrtleford to Porepunkah. For those who don't know, Porepunkah is 6km from Bright.

The Caravan Park was not entirely up to the self described opulence, so after 2 or 3 u turns on a main road, we arrived at the Top Tourist park on the river.

Since its been over 2yrs since we erected our quarters, you can well imagine the "fun" we had, in 34 degrees heat, but eventually everything worked out, as per picture.

We have ridden up to Mt Buffalo and toured the shops in Bright and of course spent a great deal of time in the swimming pool and trying to catch fish (I will let you work out who did what)

We can smell the smoke from the Mt Hotham fires of a morning, and we had a good view from the top of Mt Buffalo of the extent of the fires. Every morning and evening, the sky & roads come alive with the sound and vision of choppers and firetrucks.

Jealous
Sounds like a good start. I hope the damage from the fires doesn't detract too much from the beautiful scenery up there. I have a "bruce" of my own but much older than yours. I know what you mean about setting up in the heat, it can be very trying after a long day on the bike. But that's what you do to make the trip possible. Have fun and stay safe. I look forward to following the travels. Very jealous though.
