Edit Blog Post

I wanted to send you this one last blog before my trip to the Sierra this week. You won´t be hearing from me for about another week again. Sorry again!

As I write this blog, I´m enjoying a nice cup of Gerbers baby food. Mmm-mmm! Well allow me to tell you about my advertures for today.

Well, it´s the 23rd day of July and two days until Indepence Day of Guayaquil! Already the streets are filled with baby blue and white colors and everyone is showing their Guayaquileña spirit!

The day started like any normal Sunday morning, by us going to church. I can pretty much understand what´s being said, and I´ve gotten down most of the hymns that are sung. I still feel a little akward in a Catholic church, and sometimes feel like everyone´s staring at me because I don´t raise my hand anouncing that I believe in praying the Mary and the other Saints. But I´m sure it´s just my imagination.

After church, we ate a resturant around the block and I had a nice bowl of soup (sin yuca, pero con arroz) and the waiter gave me every combination of what I had asked for, mixed up! I was the last to be served, and I apologized for ordering such a comlicated meal. (cough) I can´t believe I´m getting sarcastic in another lanugage!

Dorita and I had to take her car seperatly because after church, her work was part of an openhouse at Malecón. All of our paintings and week of hard work were out on show for all to see. We spent time blowing up balloons and putting papers together for people who stopped at our table for shots and such. It was pretty interesting, though I was glad when it was time to leave.

Well we came home and relaxed for a while. I got my bags packed for the week and enjoying watching Predaor vs. Alien on TV. Which makes me really crave to see what will be next and when!

When the movie was over, we all went out to eat at Pique Y Pase. That´s one of my favorite resturants I´ve eaten at. I always order the same thing: arroz con menesca, carne y verdes. It´s fabulous! I´m getting so spolied by the food here!

On our way home we made quick stops at Riocentro, MegaMaxi, and a couple of different pharmacies before we got here.

I´m pretty worn out and definetly ready for a good night´s sleep. Four o´clock is going to come way too soon. Though I can´t help but be so excited about this week!

Until next time,
shir

Hi
Hey, Shir! I'm glad that you are doing well. I know that I feel awkward just visiting another church even if it is the same denomonation, so it must be really awkward to go to a service where you are the only one not doing something, like hailing Mother Mary. It sounds like you are getting pretty fluent in Spanish. I was learning Spanish during the school year, but I didn't get too far. Now, I have the motivation of Tatiana, so next year I will definately work on my Spanish. Maybe you can teach me a few words! In your previous blog, you said the Spanish word for yellow. (I forget how to spell it.) Thank you! I thought that was marigold. I was learning from Rosetta Stone, and you kind of have to guess what they are talking about. Well, I have to go! Have fun on your trip, and I'll be praying for you. Katie
