2012-12-04 - looks like spring
Pretty flowers for all of you in New England. Hi everyone,
We have pretty much settled into our life here at the RV park. Fridays and Saturdays we are out 'yard saleing'. Sundays maybe a short drive. Mondays: coffee and donuts and a quick meeting at the clubhouse and laundry & housecleaning day. Tuesdays, Wed. & Thurs., drives around town and/or visits to a casino and/or a sight seeing trip. Today, they announced at the meeting, that they would be decorating Rudy (the RV park 'mascot'😉, a very LARGE wooden giraffe located in the common courtyard (pic enclosed). Anyway, when I walked by (with the laundry) they were decorating him....I looked out an hour later and they had removed all the decorations and were puting a sealer on the wood. Apparently, after they decorated they decided they needed to seal the cracks in the wood....so I will include a picture of the decorated Rudy in the next travelblog! The bonfire I was sooooo looking forward to on Saturday past, was canceled, due to rain and wind (which never happened during that time period)....it would have been quite cool and damp however, but I was of the opinion that the bonfire would help with that. Anyway....they have postponed it until
New Years Eve. Our final 'hurrah' as we will be leaving here the next morning.
Last week we took a drive South to a town called Tubac. It is really pretty much a 'marketplace' for artists and crafters and it is an interesting place to visit. There is a museum and lots of shops and restaurants. I have included pictures. On the drive back we stopped at a restaurant called the 'Cow Palace'. There is a 'cow' on the roof and there were a lot of cars out front (a good sign). Glad we stopped, it wasn't anything fancy, but the food was really good.
The weather has gone from unusually warm to very cool. It's now in the 40's at night and around 65 during the day. We had a period of about 3 days where we had pretty severe rain showers. It would pour off and on all night, then be cloudy during the day with periodic quick showers. Yesterday, we even woke up to snow on top of the mountains and frost on our car this morning!! We have received a 'warning' about possible snow in the higher elevations for tomorrow (Tuesday) into Wednesday. We
are hoping for a drive to the Titan Missile Site on Wednesday, weather permitting. Thursday is our 'all you can eat Omelette day'. My next big 'event' to look forward to. It is being held inside the clubhouse....so I shouldn't have to worry about them canceling.
Tucson is a LARGE city with a 'million' different areas 'sprawled' out all around it. Each area has their own strip malls, with assorted restaurants, grocery stores, banks etc. I have posted pics of some of our drives around the area. Hope you all have a very Merry Christmas.
Love,
Linda
