Spin and Flail
Had some fun back to back It's been unbelievable hot here, one of the hottest July's since 1911. Everywhere I go people keep telling me that when they say "Welcome to Sunny Bolton" it's a joke, but this week has been in mid 30's all week. I love it! Last night the rain finally came at about 4am, thunder and lightening, it was beautiful, you just don't get that back home very often do you? So I lay awake listening and enjoying the sounds of thunder rolling off the hills of Horwich.
I've been exploring the place and the surronding towns. it's still a shock how green it is, I guess I expected it to be drier for some reason, being summer and all but they consistently get alot of rain throughout the summers here.
I headed downtown Bolton the other day in my flipflops and cowboy hat, I may as well been wearing a sign, apparently it's a dead give away.. TOURIST!!!! So far everyone has been just fantastic. Even the kids. On my walk home from the square I stopped in a park took out my poi and bottle of water and started practicing in the shade. Next thing you I'm surronded by 10 children...
the pub
a little dark... booo problem?? WHERE IS MY INTERPRETER!!??!?!
"Ow ol ay oo?"
"Watzat oo ot ere?"
"eys yo icken on the ound?"
I had to ask them to repeat everything. .. here in the north districs they have a tendency to drop alot of letters. H is their favorite to discard. I'm not sure the last time I actually HEARD an h other than out of my own mouth. And than last night it happened.. a few pints into the night and I looked up and asked if we left something at 'ome'. My hand flew over my mouth.. and I just about cried, thing is noone else noticed and my question was answered. But trying to understand the lingo and the accent perfectly is slowly coming to me.
So after a lazy day of eating and sleeping and lounging around the house Coley and I headed off to Poi Club which he organizes twice a week. It was in a community center which was about 3degrees hotter inside than out.. than you add about 12 or more people sweating.. and well.. yuck.. I never knew I could sweat so much by just standing. After the club we all headed out to
Bull and Patridge
Some of the poi club peeps. a local pub which one of the girls told me was a 'rougher' bar, after getting there i had to have a bit of a chuckle.. I plan on taking her to the Colbbalt or Ivanhoe if she ever comes to Canada, or maybe the Cambie in E town... THAT IS rough.. heh.. this wasn't too bad at all.. just the decor lacked in some spunk.
Sooo we got a few in us and mucked around on the piano than headed out to an old abandoned church.. it's huge.. and beautiful.. and a massive court yard to spin in and the fire spinning began, we were out there for hours.. it was great. I got a few good pics, and the newbies are loving it too, it's cool to be part of that process when someone learns how to spin fire.. all in all it's been a great week. Sunday I shoot off to London.
Cheers,

Hello from Dublin!
Hey Darling! I'm so glad to hear about all your fun over here! It has been insanely hot in Ireland as well. I just have to walk outside and I start sweating. Loads of fun. I'm so happy to hear that you made it over to this side of the world! I can't wait to meet up with you. I will be in Scotland and England in September before leaving for Athens October 3rd. Let me know if you plan to come to Ireland!
