Thanks to all who have shown interest in my wee plan - time to share some details:
Itinerary looks a bit like so:
02/12/2012: London > Delhi > Kathmandu
03/12/2012: Arrive Kathmandu
04/12/2012: Kathmandu > Lukla > Phakding
05/12/2012: Phakding > Namchee
06/12/2012: Namchee > Tengboche
07/12/2012: Tengboche > Dingboche
08/12/2012: > Chukkung > Chukkung Ri > Chukkung
09/12/2012: Chukkung - rest day
10/12/2012: >
Imja Tse base camp
11/12/2012:
Imja Tse summit day > Chukkung
12/12/2012: Chukkung > Kongma La > Lobuche
13/12/2012: Lobuche > Shomare
14/12/2012: Shomare > Ama Dablam Base Camp > Pangboche
15/12/2012: Pangboche > Nha (lower Gokyo valley) > stay somewhere in this valley
16/12/2012: ? > Namche
17/12/2012: Namche > Lukla
18/12/2012: spare day
19/12/2012: Lukla > Kathmandu
20/12/2012: Kathmandu > Delhi > London
The long trek in begins after the breath-stealing flight to Lukla. If I can get to Chukkung with enough breath left in my lungs and enough energy left in my legs, that's where the "climb" begins (it's just a high altitude walk really). Every night will be spent in tea houses except the night at Imja Tse base camp where I'll be huddling in a wee tent for for a few short hours, hoping to snatch some sleep before an early (middle of the night) start of the long ascent to the 20,285ft (6,183m) summit. That'll be higher than I've carried my long-suffering limbs before now and perhaps higher than I will carry them again.
This is a "solo" expedition but I'll be trekking with a professional guide - the son of my good friend Shaleish (we run
TrekManyFace together). A willing porter will carry some goods up to base camp, and a professional NMA (
Nepal Mountaineering Association) climbing guide will go with me to the summit.
So that's my wee plan - I'll try to post more as I go and when my brain has managed to swap into the travelling and trekking mode that helps it think wider than the collection of artificial caves I visit in daily life...

it's cold out there...
Is this what you mean when you say porters and guide taking you up the mountain? http://img.timeinc.net/time/photoessays/2010/top10_alt_travel/palanquin.jpg LR.
