Charles Bridge
...the view from the river bank.... PRAGUE
We are joined on the train by two british lads that we met at Auschwitz. It is after 10pm & our plan was to get some sleep & be ready n rearing to go upon arrival in Prague at 7am. No chance..... We order our 1st beers - so cheap - they are cold & go down too well. This sucks us in & we order some more. Our carriage guy resembles mad eye moody (eyes all over the place) & he has the job of providing us with drinks. The cold ones are all gone & we start on the hot ones....nice.
We arrive in Prague feeling a little dusty. We find our hostel but have to wait outside until 9am until it opens. We check-in but can't go into the room until 2pm, great ! We wander the streets & kill time before staggering back. We've splurged again & gotten a private room & can't wait to shower & get some sleep. The room turns out to be a shocker. The guy describes it as the 'honeymooners' room. Once our backpacks are on the floor there is bearly enough room to shut the door. Our room

the nice view from Charles Bridge is also in the kitchen/common room.....why ? Everytime we open the door inquisitive eyes set upon us. Hi there !!! I'm just going to the toilet.... be back soon.....
We have time to freshen up & then we head to the main square. The Aust V Italy game !!! There is a massive Aussie contingent & we run into the british lads & their two aussie friends. I don't want to re-live the agony of the game but needless to say we were ready to drown our sorrows afterwards. This includes a number of absinth shots.
We waste the following day recovering & doing odd things & have to cram all our sightseeing into the last day. We start back in the square to get some snaps & then we head over the river. St Nicholas church is good & we follow this up with Prague Castle. We arrive just in time for the changing of the guard. From the Castle we have some really great views & then we take the scenic walk back to town. This includes Charles Bridge. We visit a few more churches & then call it a day.
CESKY KRUMLOV

Enjoying the cheap cocktails with a few new friends (anyone recognise the brown haired Hinchy in the background?) catch an early train & after one change we arrive in Cesky just after lunch. The hostel is a couple of km's away & the walk is cruel. Our backpacks seem to get heavier & heavier.
Cesky is a very small village full of cobblestone & surrounded by a river. We take a short stoll before heading to the bar. The bar is right next door to the hostel & hard to say no to. Cheap food & drink prices also help.
It's getting late & we're about to call it a night before a dude from Melbourne tees everyone up to go out. A group of about 10 of us end up at the Horror bar. It is pretty funny, skeletons & heads all over the place.
The next day is a bit of a write off but I happen to run into a girl that I went to school with. Kelly was in my home room & happened to be on her honeymoon with her husband of two weeks. Cesky is such a small place in the Czech Republic & it is pretty bizzare to run into her. We end up at the bar &
Prague Castle
...the rain was good for one thing...we got to see the Gargoyles do their stuff and spit water on us! head to another hostel to finish off the night. It was madder than ours which was a surprise.
We awaken to rain & rumours that we might get cut off. I presume that they are just trying to scare us but when I look out the window the river is very swollen & the rapids are in full force. It was raining fairly constantly but surley not enough to cut us off ?? The problem wasn't the rain where we were, more the water coming off the surrounding mountains.
We finally do the touristy thing & visit the castle. The views are great & it emphasises the river fully. We decide to go down for a closer look & the next thing we know we are in a canoe. We're not that prepared but the sun is out & we would only be on the water for 3hrs.
The river is still raging & the canoe guy advises us not to go down the rapids. They are man made & we would encounter two on our journey. There are a few tense moments but we stay afloat & make good time down the river. Then all of
a sudden it starts to rain & quite heavily. We get drenched to the bone but it is all good fun.
We have an early night, off to Vienna in the morning !!
