Our first night in Tokyo
Outside a Tokyo monument, we don't actually know what it's called! What's up Canada? Welcome to Marissa and Trish's....or Marish's blog. We know the name's corny but we couldnt' think of anything else! So we left Montreal over a week ago but didn't leave Canada till Saturday cuz we spent the week in Vancouver. Other than the constant rain, it was great!! Thank god for my cousins entertaining us or we would have been bored without having the beach to hang out at.....thanks Epsteins and Bogdonovs!! They make the cutest kids.
Our plane ride to Asia was quite the adventure, there were endless problems, starting with Trish's bag being searched because of a swiss army knife left in it she didn't know about....sorry Sue I had to leave it at the airport!! Then Trish's name was called over the PA system, they left out the last name and just said Patricia Lee, so we were sure it was an Asian Patricia but it turned out to be Trish....kind of a scary moment!! But everything was fine, until the next obstacle...almost getting run over by a golf cart. We were actually excited to be on the plane and confined to our small space where we couldn't get into any more trouble....that only lasted
Weird Sunglasses
The weirdest sunglasses we found on Harajuku, Tokyo until we found out the alcohol was free on the plane!
Our first Asian stop was Tokyo, which was perfect cuz it was probably the most similar to Montreal. It was a big city with lots of people, a great subway system and tons of American food. Not that the people were so English, it took us half an hour to find our hostel even though it turned out to be a 1 minute walk from the subway cuz no one spoke enough English to give us good directions. Luckily we met tons of foreigners....note to female readers: MALE BACKPACKERS ARE HOT!!! And their British and Australian accents only make them hotter! Japanese men on the other hand, not so much. Plus they didn't even look at us, all we wanted was one stare to make us feel pretty!!!! Maybe it's cuz they're too busy napping every chance they get, they fall asleep on the subway to the point where their heads are leaning on the stranger next to them and in restaurants waiting for their food. The waitress actually had to wake up a girl when she brought her her food!
Our only full day in Tokyo started at
Japanese Nappers
They just can't stay awake....ever!! 4:58 am because Marissa can't sleep in. So we went to the fish market only to find out it was closed due to a national holiday, obviously our one day in Tokyo everything's closed! But we made friends with a cute American guy who kept us company. Our lovely hostel room consisted of one bunk bed that touched 3 of the walls and left about 1 foot of space between the bed and the fourth wall. If either of us gained a pound, we wouldn't have fit into the room!!
Yesterday we arrived in Korea to Chris and Fallon, who we haven't seen in 4 months. Chris hooked us up with everything we needed, including taking us out to our first Korean bar. The first thing we remember is finding out tequila shots are only $1.50....the rest is kind of a blur!!!
K that's all for now, hope everyone's enjoying their summer! Stay tuned for our next blog.
