A good sleep as always at the Fairmont, we got moving downstairs looking for some breakfast. The hotel is located at the far end of the airport, so it allowed us to check out all the departure board. We started with the US, then international, and finally domestic so Penny could get a feel for where she might be going. I also tipped her off that it would be early afternoon that we would be leaving. Once breakfast was eaten, we headed back to the room and packed up our things, then down to the departure level. We were standing at the bottom of the escalator on the airport floor and I asked Penny, which direction are we going. She went forward to International and I went left to the Alaskan Airlines counter. She admitted to her first curve, and I was about to get mine. Once at check in, the lady asked me, what is your final destination. I told her Seattle in as small a voice as I could. She then replied, yes, but you have in transit written on your customs declaration, so where are you going. So, in an even smaller voice, I told her the destination, and added to her, my wife doesn't know, its a surprise. Well, she zipped right up, and once she got the bording passes to me, she wished Penny a wonderful time in Tofino...hehe. My next worry was the customs agent. He was a funny guy. He asked us what we were doing in Canada...hehe. I told him we were living there. He also asked us where our final destination was, and once again, in a calm, but quiet voice, I told him. When we were walking away, I asked Penny what she heard, and she told me, nothing. Penny has developed a great ability to tune out noise from all her years taking minutes at coucil meetings. On to our gate, we boarded our plane and were in Seattle in about 45 minutes. This was where Penny got curve number 2. Once off the plane, she started going toward the baggage claim. She then saw my look, and then asked..okay..what? We have another gate to get to I told her, and off we went to the international area. Sorry to Trent and Jodi, but our visit here in Seattle is just a couple hours. Your living here was a good deception though..hehe. We sat for about an hour before we were called for passport verification, so Penny's destination was revealed to her. Now, we are waiting for them to call us and we will be off to our next destination. Its been a fun day of guessing.
