Good bye Brazil
October-17th. So we say goodbye to Brazil and what a fabulous experience it has been. The people are very warm, not surprising when the temperature has been in the thirties and it is still mid spring. Took a coach from the hotel, and said farewell to the staff who looked after us so well. Sad to go but we have a lot more of South America to see. The journey to Rio should have taken three hours but roadworks delayed us then when we arrived at the airport the plane was delayed as well. This is the Brazilian way . The landscape on the way reminded us of Wales, very green with rolling hills but no sheep and a few palm trees which are very rare in Wales. On our coach party were a charming couple from Uruguay, Diego spoke very good English and Virginia, his fiancé let me sample a swig of their local brew which happens to be tea not alcohol. They carry a beaker around with them with a built in straw so when hot water is poured on it can be drunk immediately. In a word 'horrible' and I have photographic evidence to prove it. Eventually we took off nearly two hours late and were entertained on the flight with Madagascar Three in English, brilliant!
