Arrived safe and sound at Heathrow airport after two flights of 11 hours and 8 hours.
Emirates is now my favourite international airline. The staff were friendly, the electronic entertainment system even in economy was superb, and the food was restaurant quality. I had Morrocan lamb on the first flight, the spices came through, the meat was tender, the couscous (aka boiled beach sand) was actually tasty, and the beans were a deep green and very much like the ones I grow at home, except Emirates' beans were edible. The Lamb Biriyani on the second flight was also magnificent, and the rice was soft and light. Yum.
The electronic entertainment system (as opposed to the four year old sitting behind me who was entertained by kicking the back of my seat), had a large amount of things to watch and listen to, so I was able to listen to some Concertos of Chopin (my favourite 'Romantic' classicist, and some of Vivaldi's Baroque era Chamber Music. Plus read my new Lee Child novel. There was a camera at the front of plane, one underneath, and one on the tail pointing forward. So also got to watch the take offs and landings, which was interesting from the different angles.
From what I could see, the tie up between QANTAS and Emirates will be quite beneficial for Australia if this is what we are likely to see. I think that the only thing missing was in the online booking system. You get to nominate a window or aisle seat when you book in, but at this stage you can't book a seat with no one under the age of 15 behind you (those who hopefully have grown out of kicking seats). Maybe I'll suggest it.

Emirates is most people's favourite airline. How'd you find the actual seat (and legroom)?
