This weekend was the first weekend I went out on an overnight adventure. I had the best time! I went to a place called Semuc Champey. I was in heaven! This place is a tourist spot so there is a lot of different stuff to do. I’m pretty sure we got to do all of them!

So on Friday we left at two in the afternoon and arrived at the hostel around eleven thirty (I think). This hostel had the box springs for beds and a nice molded pillow to go with it. So after looking over the room to make sure there was no centipede crawling out of my pillow I fell asleep. We had to wake up by seven the next morning so we could eat breakfast and then adventure to Semuc. Well that night I didn’t shower and needed so in the morning. So thinking it was like the showers at Shakina (at Shakina it heats the water in the shower head) I hoped in. I found out that it was just a hose connected to a shower head. So little to say I had a short shower…

After getting ready and waiting on
:):):)

I swam there!!
everyone else we walked up the hill to a little town (I never got the name of) and came to a restaurant. Sat sown and had some eggs, beans and a nice slice of unknown cheese… I still don’t know how I feel about that meal. When everyone was finished we were lead outside to a truck and were told to hope in. this truck was taking us to Semuc… I was excited lol!

After an hour car ride we came to the most beautiful place in Guatemala! We entered the park and were told that we had an hour hike to the pools. Thinking “oh it’s like Pacaya it won’t be that bad” we all pressed on. Then we came face to face with these lime stone stairs… death stairs. The hour hike was going to be us climbing these death stairs. After sweating buckets and buckets we made it to the top. We came to this over look. The view was absolutely gorgeous! Butterflies and light blue water with vegetation all around! Amazing, after we soaked in the scenery we were told again to continue but we were going down the death stairs instead… awesome. We made it down the Mt legs shaking and out of breath.

We arrived at the pools! The clear glimmering pools! (This is why we were told to wear swim suits...). I think we swam for two hours, jumping off waterfalls and getting eaten by little fish. We were forced to leave… we ate lunch and then were off to the next activity. Cave exploring with candle light.

This activity involved us being in are swim suits and emerging into a pitch black cave with a candle. As we went deeper so did the water. All I could think about was all the scary movies I watched! But it was good fun. We went up water falls through waterfalls and jumped into pools that were deep in the cave, while holding this candle that is supposed to last us an hour ha. I’d have to say it’s really hard to swim while holding a candle above your head haha!

After are adventure through the dark cave we took a 20 minute tubing ride down the rio. Very relaxing and a bit cold sense we had been in the water all day and the sun was

going down. After docking are tubs we jumped back on the truck for an hour ride back to the hostel to get changed for dinner. There is sooo much chicken in Guatemala! And I love it haha! Then returned to the hostel to get some sleep cause we had to wake up at five to leave at six the next morning.

I arrived at home at twelve thirty today and I don’t think I have ever been so happy to be in my room. (Being quarantined when I had Dangey made me HATE my room) I had a great weekend though.

WOW Josey!
I can't wait to visit. Those green pools of water look very inviting. The picture in my head of you swimming with a candle was quite hilarous. Who does that? Did you float on your back and hold the candle in your mouth? HAHAHA! Do you know someone invented flashlights? :) Did anyone swim with a camera and candle? I'd like to see a picture of all that! Love you Josey Mckenzie! Keeep Blogging
