Ricco & Gia got back to the room late the previous night. Turns out they really know how to get lost in Florence. Everyone gets lost in Venice, but they got lost from the termini in Florence to our hotel! They walked around and found themselves by the Duomo and then back to the original hotel we were supposed to stay at on Sunday. That is when they decided to take a cab to our current hotel. We had a big laugh about it and we stayed up late enjoying some wine that Ricco brought back from Venice. We gave the wine 3 1/2 stars or was it all the stories we shared from our two days apart!

Then this morning it was really hard to get moving. I made it to the conference during the first talk. By the time the luch break occured in the afternoon, I was not able to keep my eyes open. I had to go back to my hotel for a power nap so I could keep up with Ricco & Gia during our evening stroll around Florence.

When started to leave the hotel to meet up with them, the rain started coming down. I turned around for my room to search for my umbrella, but couldn't find it. I opted for the K-State jacket I brought with me and headed out for our next adventure. Oh well, a little rain doesn't hurt anyone!

Ricco & Gia were at the conference building at the designated time. We met up and purchased an umbrella for Gia but I thought it would be okay so I passed up all the street vendors. It never stopped raining until 4 hours later and I was soaked, but enjoyed every drop!

We made our way back to the Medici leather shop that I had found a few days prior. Gia and I bought the same purse but different colors. Her's was a chocolate brown and my was a reddish tan color. Oh and the boots I found were a delicious gray and very comfortable! The old man at the counter even threw in a few scarfs and ties for us to enjoy as his gift.

Then we tapsed along in the rain, jumped over puddles and made our way over the Ponte Vecchio. We found a nice restaurant for dinner but they didn't open for about 15 minutes. Lisa had told me about the Piti Palace, which was around the corner from the bridge. We slogged over that way, took a few pictures and made our way back to the restaurant for a yummy dinner.

Back in the room, cleaned up for the next day. Tomorrow we leave Florence and head to Rome in the evening. One more day in Florence will still be full with the conference for me, museums & site seeing for Ricco & Gia, and then a train ride into Rome for the next half of our trip.

Joy will be waiting for us in Rome! That is for sure!

Roma!
Yep...I will be here waiting for you all in Roma! I too slept in this morning after that looooong trip to get here. Checked out of the Sheraton Golf Resort at noon and took a cab to the Sheraton Conference Center. I couldn't check in yet since it was before 3pm, but they checked my bags and gave me maps and a schedule for the bus into Rome, so I will go explore and be back here tonight to check-in and meet up with my travel buddies!! :)
