Dangey Fever, a very rare illness you contract from mosquitos. There is only a certain type of mosquito that can carry this illness and no one in Maximo Nival history has every received this disease until this weekend. I happen to be that one in a million to receive Dangey Fever.

There are two types of Dangey Fever. Type A and type B, The symptoms are similar except with type B you can bleed out your eyes, mouth, ears etc.. I happen to have Type A thanks god! So my symptoms consisted of a 104 fever, achy body, stomach pain, and my eyes felt like they were going to fall out.

On the third day of this horrible agony I agreed with calling a doctor. The doctor came and hour later, took my tempter, and was shocked! I didn’t have to know Spanish to know what he was saying. My fever was high and we needed to get it down fast. He had an injection with him that would bring my fever down so I agreed and after that infection I would have to take a cold shower. Not knowing what I was getting myself into I agreed again. So he went and got this injection and asked my where I would like it. I said arm. Then he said it would hurt worse in the arm so he said it would hurt less in the bum. So I agreed again… he pulls out this needle that’s like 2 ½ cm long! Being timid by needles already, my eyes teared up. I lay down on my stomach and he started the injection in my bum. When he put the needle in it hurt but when he started to inject the medication I broke down. It felt like he was just stabbing me with the huge needle! I sat through this pain for like a minute. Much longer then was needed! I cried…ha. When he finally finished and toke out the needle it felt like it was still inside me and my bum was dead… this awesome doctor told me it would feel better if I moved it… so as I was crying I had to walk in place… Guatemalan Doctors… he would return in a half hour to draw my blood and so I could take my cold shower. After my cold shower I had to lie on my bed with a wet towel on my tummy and on my forehead till he returned. When he arrived he started right away. I don’t think he ever drew blood before by his reaction when he hit a vain… I started crying again, he thought it was because of the needle but it was because I thought I was going to die lol! As if this doctor couldn’t scare me even more he asked me if I like the injection, yes the injection that I was bawling over! He thought it was funny and was laughing at me! No bueno…

A half hour later he came back and informed me that I have Dangey Fever and will be quarantined and my roommate will have to move out. So for three days I was alone in my room cocooned in a mosquito net (if I got bit and someone else got bit then they would get it) so I have grown to hate my bed and my room. Just the smell of it makes me sick lol!

I am better now! My first outing was today, to Maximo to write this blog and to go to my Spanish class! I just need to get my appetite back and my energy. Everyone at the house is paranoid and scared of mosquitos. I think I might cry if I get one haha.

I hope this blog made sense! It’s kind of one big blurr to me haha!

Love and miss you all!

Adios!

Poor Josey : (
I bet you were scared, too. You poor thing!! I guess you will always have a story to tell your children, huh? I'm so happy that you recovered and got through that terrible Dangey Fever. I just can't imagine being new to a country and being so sick. Thank God that you are okay! Much love, Mrs. C
