Elvis & Company
Typical Tourists Bye to the Blues on Beale Street.....Aloha Elvis! We returned to Graceland today....again. You can just never get enough of this place - Elvis is so alive here. Going through the mansion again, you see something you didn't see before. It was much less crowded today because the anniversary celebration was held during our last visit. Lulu may be seen by many more eyes: as she played on the guitar, her photo was taken by others than myself. They found her attractive I think. Our next attraction took us to Holly Springs, Mississippi for their annual Hummingbird Migration Festival. It was held at their Audubon Park (out in the boonies....we are very accustomed to this type of location, now). We rode on a covered wagon pulled by a pick-up truck to the sanctuary. Our first exhibit was the "banding of the hummingbird" - check out your visiting hummingbirds for a teenie, metal band on their teenie, little leg.....it may have come from Holly Springs. There were crafts and items for sale. We strolled through the huge, main mansion where we could view outside the window, hundreds of hummingbirds at feeders. Wildlife exhibits abounded which were very informative as well as Graceland
Lulu visits the gravesites fascinating. We're sorry you couldn't join us! We know you are feeling bad.
Tonight we are in Tupelo....back at the Best Western Plus that had the special clean remote. We shall stay here tonight and tomorrow night since we can't get to our motor home until Monday. Had we known we were going to be "on the road" for almost a full week, we might have ventured further but we are content with where we went and what we saw and did ....even if we had "been there, done that" .... It was all worth repeating. Plus, we would have missed the Hummingbird Migration Celebration! That would have been a bummer! Still eating our way through the South, we traveled 30+ miles to the Seafood Junction for dinner. It made "Cherry Pocket" (Florida fish- camp restaurant) seem like it was on I-4. It was so isolated, the GPS even gave out. A gal from the Coon Dog Cemetery region recommended it - say no more. The food was excellent (another buffet) including frog legs and quail. It was located in an extra large pole barn and most informal. Instead of singing Happy Birthday to an old fella, Honoring Elvis
Lulu loves Elvis they all sang "The old, gray mule - he ain't what he used to be...." They do things differently here in the South.
What to do tomorrow? We have a few more things listed on our "dance card". It will be our last full day in the area - do I dare say that? If we have to drive the RV with paint dripping from its edges, we will ! Truthfully, we don't really know where to go when we leave Red Bay....we just know we want to GO.
