Were finally on the move and sore shoulders already and i miss my stilettos - and alana misses hers too lol...

We set off on Wednesday night, 10 o clock boat after many emotional emotional goodbyes and leaving parties (thanks to all our friends and family who were gonna miss sssooooo much!!). Arrived in Liverpool early on thursday morning (at least thats the most dangerous part of our trip over and done with - thank god for those injections !! lol) then train to London where we slept most of the way then onto Eurostar. The most impressive part of the Eurostar was the terminal - the train itself was ok - left and arrived on time. However we did have to fight a granny who tried to steal our seat - how rrruudeee!!

Arrived in Brussels around six on thursday night and it was pretty warm esp with our big backpacks. Got a taxi to our hotel and the we were greeted by a welcome party of hookers - even our taxi dri ver laughed and left us as fast as he could. Hotel was fine inside - im sure we have alot worse to come. In our room five mins and Phil realised hed lost his mobile - what a way to start our travels! (even the nomads in Mongolia are going to laugh at Phil without a phone!!).

Had a quick look around Brussels on Thursday - first impressions were pretty low - between the hookers, rubbish on the street and homeless fighting - so we headed back early. Got a good night sleep and set off for a proper look around Brussels. Got the Metro to Little Europe which was pretty cheesey but really enjoyed it - got some good photos. Most of the pics were us pretending to be giants. Then went to the Atom - which looked class from the outside and had the fastest lift in Europe...and that was the highlight of the Atom lol

Headed back for some sightseeing - Phil had printed out a 45 minute tour of Brussels - which Usain Bolt must have write becasue it took us three hours! After that we headed back to the Grand Palace and lucky us its the October Beer Festival in Brussels this week. We queued for half an hour for tickets to get in ( we were only half way ) then a tipsy Belgian man came up to us and gave us two free VIP passes as he was leaving - we couldnt believe our luck ...free beer !!

The beer festival was brilliant! Got taking to some locals - interesting to learn about the whole Flemish / French / German language thing going on here. Were leaving Brussels tomorrow loving it so much more then we expected - esp from the rocky start yesterday. For us one and a half days has been enough - glad we stopped on our way through.

Tomorrow were off to Copenhagen Via Cologne - first time in a sleep train - should be fun.

Phil & Alana x
