The Broken BridgeThe Broken BridgeThe Broken Bridge

Classic maturity....
Contrary to what I had previously thought UK citizens are allowed into North Korea....well in this case at least Korean Waters! We took a boat ride out between a Korean island and the mainland. It was a surreal experience, enhanced by the foggy conditions! We were not allowed to take pictures of military personel or buildings, which is understandable, but Max and James did take a few. At one point a soldier pointed at us and I half expected loads of boats to come out of nowhere, board us and take us away!

This morning was when people really started asking to take photos of Jess, she looks a bit like Tayler Swift, some not even asking and just grabbing her! We then went to the Eastern terminal of the Great Wall and the "1 metre jump" the closest point between NK and China, which was heavily guarded. There was a very amusing sign stating that if you wanted a long and happy life you shouldnt break the rules at the crossing, I understood the hidden message so behaved myself!

We then visited the Broken Bridge, that once connected China and NK, which was bombed by USA in the Korean war but on the NK side so not to anger the Chinese too much....according to our guide! Had lunch on an old boat now fixed in place and the duck was served whole, beak and all, but was delcious.

Finally we went to the Korean War museum which contained lots of propaganda and anti-american information calling the USA "imperialist dogs". Jess was again swamped by people asking for photos and at times I felt like a body guard but did manage to photo bomb a few! The museum seemed to have quite a slanted view on a war which ultimately was pointless and strangely the Koreans were very rarely mentioned, seemed like China was solely fighting USA!

On the long ride home we played a game called Killer, which I will be introducing when I return to Durham! When we got back we went out for some traditional KFC and then had a chilled evening.
