Hi All,

I wasted an entire morning today going to Yellow Island. I got up a 7 o'clock and found the ferry terminal. I then took the bus as per the guidebook's instructions only to be dropped off at a roundabout in the middle of a city. I asked some people at the bus stop for the beaches and they told me they were on the other side of the island. So I had to catch the bus and then go back to Qingdao. I wasn't down hearted and on returning to Qingdao so I took a taxi to No. 3 bathing beach. I went for a quick swim in the Yellow Sea, although the amount of seaweed there was it was more green than yellow, and had a snooze on the beach. It was a surprise when I woke up to be surrounded by brides. Lots of couples having their photos taken

I have enjoyed my time here very much. The people, meaning natives, have been extremely friendly and I've been trying out my Chinese to a little bit of success. I'm getting better at food and I'm understanding a little bit as well, but it is hard!

The next part of the trip is the worst. I have a 4 1/2 hour train ride to Jinan. I have a few hours to kill there and then the torture of an 18 hour seated train journey and finally a 3 hour coach ride to Shaoyang. A total of 1,900 Kms. Ouch! Think I might buy a cushion.
Enjoy the photos

Jah Bless

Going to Huangdao (Yellow Island)
Nice entry and cool photos. Lots of green algae at the moment :-( Next time when you are in the city you can actually try taking a normal public bus from Beach #1 over to Huangdao. Costs 2 RMB and it's easy. And then in Huangdao just take a taxi to Golden Beach or Silver Beach. Nice places but also rather touristy.
