After Saturday's entry I met some Austrians, Frenchies and an Hollander and we all hit the night on the town....again. After much searching on Sanlitun lu for a decent club we ended up breaking up as not all of us were into the trash disco scene as earlier discussed. Instead it was just the Austrians and myself on to Nan Jie Bar. Though quite difficult to find I highly recomend it as an expat bar, it reminded me something of the bar Kansas in Top Gun.

Particulars of the night are unimportant besides Germany winning the football match and it raining so heavy it turned the parking lot into a lake. Getting back to the hostel at 4am only to discover most of the ground floor underwater and the staff doing a valiant effort to protect the furniture....I am so glad my bed was on the 2nd floor.

Even though I woke up at 8:30 it was still a race against time to get to my long disctance bus in time. A quick rickshaw ride turned into a half hour hutong tour, leading into another 20 minute wait for the ATM machine only to find out it was out of service. HINT: a VIP bus with washroom is not necessarily a VIP bus with washroom it just means they may stop every few hours for a washroom.

The best side though was seeing a transport loaded with two combines and people sleeping in the combine cabs and truck bed, it captured the essence of China quite nicely. Also the insane weather on the way to Hohot was incredible, theres few times when you see a tour bus hydroplane in between two trucks loaded with onions. The countryside looked very much like southern alberta plains though with the occasional Yurt or Ger interspersed by vast stretches of forced industrialization. Arriving in Hohot there was more rain and after checking into the Da ju hotel for 100yuan I finished the night with some KFC and being stared at by the locals.
