After spending our last weekend in Melbourne with our fantastic friends & family, the next couple of days were spent running around and getting everything organised. When we left for Nadi (Fiji), we knew it was time to 'relax', and somehow, so did the airport screen.

Two days of resort living, with poolside bars, reading & breakfast buffets was just what we needed before our 14 hour flight to Vancouver.

Flying in over Vancouver Island was spectacular. As we flew into the airport, the beautiful city skyline and mountainous backdrop had us excited.

We cabbed to our hostel, and as we were getting out our luggage, the cab driver advised us that "you have to be a bit careful around here" and "this neighbourhood is quite notorious". Oh dear! Needless to say, the hostel was a dive. Lucky we'd only prepaid 2 nights! We soon got in touch with our friend Ash, who lives in Kitsilano (an awesome neighbourhood with great ocean & mountain views, and cool pubs & shops) who took us in for our final 3 nights before we head to Alaska.

In only a few days in Vancouver, we can already tell that it will be a great place to live for the next 12 months. We will update the blog with our Alaska travels in early August.

Cheers,
MD & GT

Off to a flyer...
GT and Dirt, I am really very excited for the both of you. What a great shot of GT in Vancouver. This could be a real possibility in Vancouver, 9 holes of golf very early, followed by a early morning swim/surf (with wetty of course) and to round off the perfect sporting day a few hours burning up the ski slopes. I am envious. Keep the stories rollin'.

I'm missing you, hope you have fun. I'm dribbling lots and I think it's funny watching my mum eat an apple.
