On the 21st of October 2011, I went on a field trip with my Travel and Tourism Class. We went to SAB worl of beer in Johannesburg.
We started off at Varsiry College in Pretoria, hired a bus and left for joburg. When we got there we checked in and had to give them our lunch orders, so that they could preapre it whislt we were on the tour. After that we had some time to mess around and take photos while we waited for the tour to start.
If you have a look at the photos, you will see all of us having a good time and taking some crazy pictures and some very sweet class photos of all of us.
The tour finally began with a narrator telling us all about the history of beer and how it all began. We then went on to taste the yukky beer that was in the big round clay pot. i personally didnt approve of it, but that is very popluar way and type of beer to drink. We then went on to watch a 3D video, see the hops growing and found out that each hops plant alone
needs up to 21litres of water A DAY! what a crazy fact! We viewed the large tuning machies, got to taste the dried out hops and walk through a made-up mini shabine. We then stopped at a bar where we received a glass of beer. The glass was given to us as a souvenir to take home, it had the SAB logo printed on it.
The tour was very interesting and educational, the tour guide was lovely, knowlegable and spoke clear.
All in all a very successful trip. we all learnt a lot about the beer industry and it was a great opportunity to bond as a class.
